Folks, we are driving ourselves demented looking for a low to mid budget king size mattress. So many conflicting reviews online about the likes of Emma and Easca mattresses, has anyone here bought one of these? What is your honest review?

Is a standard comfort mattress from Harvey Norman as good as any of the above?

Max budget is €500 or €600.

Any advice appreciated before divorce proceedings commence!!!!

Just be careful with the amount of fake "Memory foam" doing the rounds on social media sites and other sellers, death traps if they go on fire. There is lot of reconditioned Emma mattresses being sold as well.

Don't expect anything from life, just be grateful to be alive.

Absolutely. The amount of ads that have suddenly appeared on my FB feeds is off the scale.

I'll be sticking to known brands/sites only

Try Big Mickey - they have a mega-thread somewhere in the Bargain Alerts forum, but I couldn't find it because the Search function is borked.

I'm pretty sure Big Mickey have their own website.

Have an Emma Mattress for about nine months now. Took about a week to get used to, but honestly, best nights sleep ever with them.

I also have Emma one for around 9-10 months. Found it a bit strange for a week or two (my previous mattress was a very firm one) but now I am so used to it that when I sleep in a different bed with the standard mattress that I used to actually like, I get back pain literally after an hour or two. I used to keep turning and waking up due to back issues. Since I got Emma mattress I sleep like a baby. I also got it for a very good price as there was some Revolut discount plus a discount code here in some other thread. 366eur I paid for a King size.

If you are close to Ikea or can get to one, I can highly recommend their matress Vatneström. A workmate recommended it to us and we went off and had a look, ended up buying directly. Very comfortable, if you can stetch your budget, a topper will make it even more luxurious. We are more than happy 1 year later.

JYSK also has good mattresses. I tried a few and felt they were really good quality. Would have bought one of theirs if i hadn't spotted Revolut 's Emma offer.

You'll spend 33% of your life, give or take, on your mattress. It's well worth spending the most you can manage, tbh. Could you get to an EZ Living store? They do 0% interest payment plans so you could have a bigger budget to work with if you're paying it back over 12 months.

You haven't said where you're based but Swan Beds in Cork are locally made and are excellent quality for very reasonable prices. You'd definitely find something good there, but might be too much of a trek.

Initially, no, got on to them and they sent me a topper (additional piece of firm foam), that goes inside the cover.

    that solved the problem immediately.

also ordered pillows from them but just couldn’t get used to them so they went back.

Mattress Toppers can make the bed overly hot and uncomfortable for some not used to them.
