Birthday activity idea for teenager, I'm desperate!!

Hi all,

I'd love to know if anyone has any ideas for a 13 year old boy's birthday - so many of the usual things are closed - we live fairly near Dublin so thinking of going for lunch in the city and doing some activity and bring a couple of his friends along - things we've done in recent years include bowling/lazer tag, escape room, Hidden Valley aqua park.

It doesn't have to be anything really amazing but just some fun activity. We looked into Viking Splash tour but they seem to be closed for good. He's happy with something fairly simple, the cinema might have to do but if anyone knows of anything else please let me know!

Why not just pay for the cinema. Film if their choice and maybe McDonald's after.

Thanks guys - yes just letting them off to the cinema is probably a good idea - I suppose as they get older they don't need as much organising :) Tayto park is great but we've been a few times too!

would they like Go karting, there's a place near Dublin airport & one near ballyfermot. Or paintballing, think there's a place up near Guinness but not sure about the age limits. Guinness storehouse or Croke park tour. Dublin bay cruise out to Howth & visit transport museum or to Dun laoghaire. Malahide castle & railway museum. The Zoo.

Zipit in Tibradden Woods is a great day out and challenging enough for 13 year olds- they'll love attempting cycling the bmx 50 feet in the air!

Or I'd suggest bouldering in Gravity in Inchicore, followed by pizza directly beside in Rascals HQ- amazing pizza there. Wouldn't choose the cinema personally

I was going to suggest Go Quest - they've definitely a venue in Carrickmines and I think somewhere else in/near Dublin too. We've done a couple of teenager parties there and they've been a hit. But it seems they aren't doing parties yet - although you could just book in as a group and not worry about the party piece if you are going to eat elsewhere anyway (the party bit is just that they order pizza for you and you have a room for half an hour or so to have pizza and cake).

We had our young lad's 12th birthday at Zipit and it was a huge success. His mates are still talking about it apparently!

Another vote for zipit - did it twice with work. Brilliant for adults and brilliant for kids.

Takes a good long time to complete what you want - so, value for money

Is Dublin Zoo an option. I know it's not as edgy as laser-tag but your son and his mates might be geeky types too who like something educational. Few hours in the zoo and then burgers afterwards.

Or you could just leave them to their own devices in the front room with a load of flagons and a stripper.
