Rear satellite speaker query

Hey guys,

Looking to get some advice on some rear satellite speakers

current setup:

LG65CX Denon AVR 4400H for 7.1.4

Fronts Pioneer Elite SP-EBS73-LR (with built-in Atmos) (driven by denon pma 600ne)

Surrounds Gale Silver x 2

rears Yamaha NS-b285 x2

Centre Q-Acoustics 3090Ci

Sub Yamaha NS-sw 280

ELAC DEBUT A4 mk2 ATMOSx2

current arrangement is that we have a couch in front of a large window and the two rears are on stands peaking over the couch. id love some larger speakers there but wife will not entertain something too big

The 2 rear Yamaha NS-b285s I don’t think are adding to my setup as much, and wondering if there are better small form satellite speakers out there that would compliment my setup. At 90x90x109 their size is tolerated!

im seeing you guys have the CAMBRIDGE AUDIO MINX MIN12 and the Monitor Audio MASS Satellite avail would either of these or similar form factor rears add much to my setup or will I hear much difference?

Hi Eoin.

Yeah, personally I prefer the sound of the Mass speakers over the MIN ones. The Mass can produce the lower end of things better.

Weight ways the MIN12 is 0.43Kg and the Mass Sat is 1.12Kg.

The Mass speaker should sit on a normal stand but they are designed to go onto the Mass stands. The cable is threaded through the bottom of the mass speaker.

Hi Eoin.

I did some checking and it seem the Yamaha NS-b285 where original part of a 5.1 speaker pack so upgrading to wither the MIN12 or Mass show be an improvement.

You do need to remember that rear speakers are only for effects when watching movies etc..... So noticing a difference will be subtle. However if you were listing to music in multi channel stereo you will hear a difference.

The Mass in my opinion would have the better sound quality.

yeah they were part of my original package which I’ve been replacing over the years. For gaming, music and sports I usually use the multichannel stereo.

so the Mass you think would be better then the Cambridge? I presume the Mass would fit on a standard speaker stand (stem)? Are the Mass a lot heavier though?

Hi guys,

I'm going to do the same, looking for a pair or rear satellites, and want some cable and stands.

Are either the CA Minx 12 or the MA Mass compatible with the Sanus HTB3 stands? all in black.

I need 2 X 10 meter runs of cable to be run around a new wooden floor, have just bell wire at the moment but would the QED QX14 would be suitable? the amp is in the middle of the 4m wall of a 5m X 4m room.

The Min12 and Mass speakers would not fit to the Sanus stand unfortunately.

Both Cambridge and monitor Audio produce their own stands for these.

Cambridge have the CA600P priced at 99.99 Euro. I could offer these at 75 Euro

For speaker cable the QED QX16 would do the job but we are out of stock here at the Belfast store but I could try and order in up for you. It a basic install cable and usually only used for inside walls an ceilings.

Hi guys, everything arrived safe and sound and is all connected up and working perfectly.

Cable laid before new floor went in and the speakers pair up nicely with the stands, a simple screw into the retaining bracket and no need for specialist stands to match the speakers.

Thanks for everything and I will be back again soon for a 55" OLED as soon as I can get a good price, 😉😉
