Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

efficient water heating

    Hi all,

the boiler in my house is the original one from about 20 years ago. the thermostat or the timer are not working so I have to turn on the booster every day before showering which is not particularly practical or cheap.

Is it worth fixing it or should i just bite the bullet and upgrade to a more modern system?

if i was to upgrade, what is the most efficient solution for a house not connected to the gas network and where oil is not an option?

I considered switching everything to electric showers and under sink heaters so that we would heat only the water that we use instead of a large amount that we might or might not use - of course this would all be at the electricity day rate, plus showers tend to break every few years.

From what i read the standard 23A for a house are not sufficient for a tankless boiler able to support the whole house so i don't think that's an option, or is it?

A newer boiler should be more efficient but is it worth the additional price compared to fixing the existing one?

are there any other solutions that i'm missing?

also if someone can recommend a good plumber in the dublin 15 area, please PM me :)

    thanks!
