    Joe contacted the German embassy?

Pretty sure the German ambassador attended commemoration of North Strand bombings some years back

Not a word over the last month about the murder of John Pat Cunningham and the British army celebrating his murderer as a hero, despite Joe’s interest in the North and its killings, did Joe contact the British embassy?

Since when do RTÉ contact embassies seeking apologies about attacks on Irish people?

My mother, like that of Kathryn Thomas, was nearly bombed by ze Germans, her first house in Arklow having had one dropped to de rear. It failed to explode as it hit a marsh. Night after North Strand bombings.

    Compo please!

Little or no response on Liveline Twitter to today’s subjects. Maybe the marketeers might use that as a barometer of public interest.

I’m positively encouraging a certain poster to come onto Liveline about this. If Joe owns a few gaffs he wouldn’t know what side of de argument to be on.

    From the Lotto website:

"The Lotto jackpot reached €19,060,800, a new record, on Wednesday (29th September) and was not won. The jackpot is now capped at that amount of €19,060,800 and will remain at that level until won. A single winner of the prize will become the biggest ever Lotto jackpot winner in the history of the game in Ireland.

For each draw at Cap, the jackpot remains as €19,060,800 and funds that would normally contribute to growing the jackpot will now flow down to the next tier at which there are winners, which means that there will be even more prize money guaranteed to be won at non jackpot prize tiers."

And a more contradiction of the facts on the ground you couldn't find. As I've said, there is none and has been no proof that Greater prizes are being won down the pegging order. As a basic example there's no logic to 2 × 5+ Bonus winning €180k one week, €600k the next, €300k on another occasion and 1 getting nearly a million euro last week.

As callers have said, smaller prizes have remained absolutely the same and this despite months of the actual pot increasing.

My point being, Camelot are talking shyte claiming the prize fund is being shared/spread out, I'll go further, absolute its absolute lies.

Personally, I do it occasionally, fully understand its a gamble but something does not sit right with what's going on and I'm not at all surprised questions being asked, does it warrant an entire live line show 🤔 dear God NOOOOOOO.

In nineteen hundred and forty two

    The Irish Pine was sunk

    The attack was apparently ordered

    By a horrible Germen punk

The Pine it was a neutral ship

It should never have been attacked

But the innocent crew paid a terrble price

    And that's the tragic fact.

    We hear that some descendents

    Are hoping for recompense

They probably have a moral case

    That accords with common sense

But I tell you now quite honestly

In fact I'm willing to bet

They will not see a single cent

    Apology is all they'll get.

I know someone who is good with horses. he can win maybe three or four hundred regularly. He stops when he wins, doesn't give it back to bookie. He buys himself a little treat each time. Then starts again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,785 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

There is zero quality control on the show.

It appears that no-one higher up in RTE than Joe (or else they are afraid of him) actually listen to the show, for the host seems to be able to fill his 75min daily with whatever old nonsense he wants. He can ramble on for days on a trivial subject, yet no-one is able to go and tell him to catch himself on and cover something interesting.

Dee Forbes should be ashamed of the radio shows of her 3 highest paid 'stars'. All 3 are rubbish.

I was just thinking it actually could have been slightly worse, just saw Garth Brooks on the virgin media news, I felt compelled to vomit profusely, Joe could have latched on to the Brooks Hysteria, Claire Byrne did earlier and my god it was a cringe fest

10 minute advert for a private for profit concert on during the main evening news at the moment. Scandalous.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,152 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

I disliked Garth Brooks before but my god he's a creep , just watched his interview on six one, god he's just appalling, what is the attraction, I'm not getting it, on virgin media the excitable Paul quinn handed Brooks a video call from some deranged fan from mayo 😳. Jesus wept it's just embarrassing.

They could be trying to get involved in / hype a cultural touchstone moment. The bigger this gets the more content they have to kill time with on ill prepped radio shows and click baity social media content they can post. The net winner from this this though is the multi millionaire concert promoter.
