Honours Maths paper hard. Shock horror. Maybe thr calibre of honours maths students isnt up to scratch? Do they expect to have a paper just to suit themselves? Using Covid? People are babysat too much these days in school now IMO.

It wasn't unfair. Everyone sat the same paper.

It was only unexpected by the chancers who try to get through the course studying a small portion of the subject. There was nothing on the paper that wasn't on the course. Anyone who did the course properly wouldn't have been surprised.

Maybe half the marking will be for the mere effort of lifting pen to paper.

Not able to listen to all this. It was a very tricky and surprising paper. However, I wonder will they speak about the marking scheme strategy and bell curves though? This will all right itself in the end, but where's the controversy in that?

The more kids that have to repeat the leaving cert the less kids entering third level which means less kids looking for accommodation for their third level education.

The 4D chess approach to dealing with the housing crisis gathers apace...

It was a Higher Level exam on resilience, that was given to students who were sent home in March of their Junior Cert year, sat no Junior Cert. Were in for a few months wearing masks, coats, social distancing and with teachers ringing in sick left, right and centre. Sent home again in December 20 and back after Easter 21 for 2 months. And into September 21 with masks, coats, winter wind and rain blowing in through open windows. And into December 21 / January 22 Covid wave with loads of teachers and pupils missing weeks cos of HSE Rules.

And then the SEC pull a sneaky move and make sure the first week of the LC is a sh1tshow for the kids involved.

I just tuned in - where the hell is Joe?

He is only back two weeks, and gone again? Why?

    What is going on?

Is this just today or do we have a week of this substitute teacher guy

Teacher on blaming staff in the SEC for making a mess with the paper.

Maybe if he taught the whole course and didn't coast through the last 2 years only covering the bits he was able to teach and avoiding the harder bits he didn't understand then maybe his students would have been better prepared. Lazy teachers and students trying to game the system made the mess not the SEC.

Making the marking easier is all well and good but you have to have put something down on the paper to be marked!

Your over thinking things chappie or just a whack job... There is nobody with the intelligence to do that in our administration...

I was a very poor student when in secondary and just scraped through the L.C.

I didn't go to college then but went back and did several degrees as an adult. If they think this is bad then wait until they are introduced to college exams and professional exams.

They're i ntrouble if this throws them.

    Hold on a minute now.

The kids (and teachers) were not allowed in if they had a cough or a runny nose for the last two years.

If a family member had Covid they were advised to stay out.

Getting the entire course done not easy when we were following Tony's Rules.

At mock geography I didn’t answer about a third of the test. The two thirds I answered I got 99% for, but overall score was about 65%. I asked the geography teacher why he deducted 1% what I did 🤣 As he said my treatise on the Curragh of Kildare was overkill.

Isn't that always the way though? This sounds very crappy but LC is all about picking yourself up,dusting yourself off and on to the next one. This seems more like a problem in how it's taught, maths is supposed to be about problem solving. And here they are saying they didn't even attempt questions. You can get any effing marks if you don't try (grrrr!)
