That will depend on the criteria that you use.

When do they test for it or is it just if it's suspected?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,402 ✭✭✭McGinniesta

No. I'm saying some people want to earn their living and not rely on welfare.

There's employers out there desperate for workers. If the guy could do the job then he'd get hired!

Passing off comments or actions as being "bluntly honest" won't pass it.

Remember the kid on the late late show with autism a few years ago who was asked what he wants to be when he grows up. He said he wanted to fly planes into skyscrapers and be a terrorist.

Petula Martyn in for Ray, she normally does the business news on RTE, will be interesting how she gets on, so far 'de buttons' managed 100% on first attempt.

my mother always used to say she highly suspected I was born with ADHD, as I find it very hard to focus more than seconds or minutes at best, even my two eyes can’t look in the same direction which is a characteristic. No such thing as diagnosing this kind of thing in 1960s, nowadays I would have been put on minimum dose of Ritalin to be able to focus. It was always a huge struggle to concentrate on anything.

I know a couple, in their late 50's , son 17 , they've been trying , un successfully to get a Diagnosis of Autism for their son for as long as I know them (10 years) , the wife actually works for the HSE . Personally I don't see anything whatsoever wrong with their son, he's quite, reserved but engaging. Every expert that has seen him, says there is no Autism. They still persist. There's a name for it but it escapes me.

I'm not questioning the verasity of those who partook in today's show but I wonder is it a common thing, parents trying to get a diagnosis for something that is just not there.

I would like to hear Katie deal with some of the subjects of last week where Joe was getting hot & bothered & snarky.

It’s a pity today was all the one thing. 15 mins would have covered it.

We are cross wire's here. I simply pointing out a number of the Cawlurs mentioned "Having to sign on the Dole' when this is not the case.

I'm further highlighting that DA is a very basic support for those with a diagnosed disability that permits people to also work a certain amount of hours per week.

I don't see it as a reliance but an entitlement if a diagnosis is confirmed.

Mid-term break at Montrose. Hair Byrne off too. Did Tubs manage to struggle in for his show today?

That's a surprise, just heard her in the background, actually like her , she'll be well capable of handling this show, all she has to do is talk to herself for an hour and a half 😁

I'm in a few jobs at the moment. Finishing a degree, high end paid project work and two part time jobs.

One is very decent a few hours a week high end.

The other is slumlord central I enjoy it though very educational. We have about 200 staff on a few hours a week lol. Achmad has won employer of month for a few months despite I reckon getting COVID 26 times lol. There is literally no respect for you u are an entity to the company. Les hours equals less rights they are terrified of a union lol. Management took some hours off me when I sent a group email stating inflation was so high we needed better expenses rlol.

I saw somewhere that Kaitie was doing Hair Byrne Live tonight, but that could change if she was drafted into LL at the last minute.

Nooze looked and sounded a bit lost today, she had nobody to tear down in the studio from the ‘Gubbermint’ aided and abetted by a bunch of lefties.

She sounded like she was struggling with the ‘positivity’ concept.

    Seemed alien to her.

I think your right here. My sister in law insists that her son is autistic. To me he is a normal little boy - yes he is a little loud at times but as I see it most little boys are like this sometimes. I looked after him recently and noticed nothing different about him whatsoever - he played well with my kids and was good as gold - no outbursts or loudness. His school dont seem to have an issue with him either. I dont get why she keeps pursing a diagnosis for him. I suspect it could be something to do with being able to claim a carers allowance!

I also know kids who are supposedly on the spectrum - again I notice nothing different about them whatsover. It seems now kids cant have any little quirks or they are considered on the spectrum. Its sad to see that mild quirks cant be accepted and people have to look for a scientific reason to label a child for the rest of their life.

I'd heard of this before and it's only welhen I witnessed it first hand ( I worked with the husband) and it was really quite troubling to watch . There was numerous appointments, so private, some public, parents involved in all sorts of associations to do with Autism and after literally years, no specialist agreed, they even moved the child (no doing his leaving) into different schools . I just found it all very disturbing to be honest, almost longing or wishing for a diagnosis of Autism.

He's playing a Blinder, making absolute fools out of Biden and European Leaders , meanwhile reaping in multi billions in extra revenues from high gas prices.

No one does the Long Table treatment like Putin 😁

Just watched the Putin address back.

He's actually losing the plot. The hoor with the second biggest nuclear arsenal on the globe in losing the damn plot. There was talk over the last few years of some sort of dementia or Parkinsons kicking in, but I'm inclined to believe it now.

A few media sites suggested earlier that western intelligence are reporting his Generals are against his plans and there's upheaval in the upper echelons.

They may have to take him out. The military may have to remove him and stop the madness before it really begins.

He might get a “stroke” like Stalin, maybe a little sip of Novichok might do the trick.
