Yes it's possible to make money from it.

But Ireland is a relatively small market, so you'd probably need to look at other markets too.

I had hoped to get some input from someone who might have tried it out!

    Depends what you mean.

I make about €20 per month from affiliate sales off some very tightly targeted websites. It's tiny compared to advertising revenue, but takes almost no effort now the very content-rich websites are in place.

Sorry, I guess I just threw a very wide question out.

I see American people online who claim that they are making thousands with affiliate marketing.

Just wondering if its all hype and bluff or is there any truth in it?

    Ok that's a tad more concrete :)

Can you make a living from affiliate marketing?

    Yes, but it's not easy.

There are people in Ireland (and elsewhere) who do this either full-time or a lot of the time.

    But it's hard work.

10+ years ago it was relatively easy to slap up a website get some traffic and make some cash.

These days you need to work on the content, the functionality, the SEO etc etc and how much you earn will vary a lot.

I'd recommend spending a bit of time on some of the larger affiliate marketing forums to get an idea of what people are up to.

Hi. Time to update this thread, guys. Affiliate marketing can seem too good to be true sometimes, especially with all the hype and scams out there. There are genuine success stories, and people do make a living from it. Of course, it takes time, effort, and the right strategies. Just be cautious and do your research before diving in. Maybe reaching out to Cheapest SMM Panel for Followers, Likes & More services may help too. Anyway, just my thoughts.
