I saw a bird of prey hunting this afternoon, it was hovering in the air for ages, swooping away and coming back to the same spot and hovering again. Was this a kestrel or sparrowhawk or something else? It was too far away to see it's markings, but I did notice it had a lovely rich brown colour (I think on it's back) as it swooped away.
