Feel like you don't belong in Ireland?

This video just makes me so sad. The way the good weather brings out the worst in so many people in this country is awful. The litter left behind and the noise caused to local residents.

I often wonder do I belong in a different culture like Scandinavia or Japan where you would have more friendship opportunities outside of alcohol consumption. I know not everyone was in this state today but I saw first hand plenty who were.

They are just scummers, in a civilised society the taxi driver would have a hand gun and wipe them out and be given the keys to Dublin City to graze his/hers sheep as a hero. In Ireland with the Greens in power the car driver would get a €700 fine for speeding away as emissions were unfriendly to the local daffodils.

I don’t know what our exact population is but I reckon it’s around the 4.5 mil mark. So you are taking about tiny percentages.
And you might need to live in one of those societies you speak of before making your decision there are pros and cons. Don’t make a snap decision based on a few scrotes.

More of them need a nice swift impact with the tarmac like the lad in the video. Talking of Scandinavia and Japan in the OP however, there is a reason behind why they have such high suicide rates. Nowhere are there perfect, harmonious societies.

Yeah op I am not looking forward to the future. I would tend to be slightly pessimistic at times but the younger crowd coming up don't seem to have much personal responsibility for their actions. They seem to have a victim mentality and are always questioning authority.

But what they have us living through, grants allowed for people having wood burning stoves in built up areas. The Bannon dickhead promoting such living on RTE each week, he should be before a war crimes tribuinal for promoting damage to people's health. It's ok in Ballybackofmehole but not ok in built up areas.

Biologists used to believe that human evolution had stopped.

If you are of a fraternity, have multiple kids of the same mentality, and so on and so forth... and are rewarded for your endeavours, that's evolution, and you will increase in numbers.

If you are middle class, that pays the taxes and has 2 kids by caution/consideration. Then your fraternity, that finances the other, will diminish, and an equilibrium will develop, and the other fraternities will also demise.

vis-à-vis feed the monster and it will get bigger:)

We, as a people/culture seem to totally lack self control. And this is not a new trend, IMO. We've always been this way. Look at what happened when we got access to a bit of credit in the noughties, for example. Everyone thought they were millionaires, driving jeeps, buying property abroad, etc.

Nothing about the video surprises me.

Them and the taxi crowd need to be taken by the riot squad down an alleyway and get an almighty hiding. This happens a couple of times and it will stop.

I think you're mixing up lawyers with the Green party there. Lawyers keep the revolving door of the criminal justice system turning for their benefit. I don't think the Greens are endorsing gobshítes.

Maybe not endorsing them per se, but here's Rip Van Winkle AKA Eamon Ryan's take on the situation:

    https://www.thejournal.ie/eamon-ryan-public-order-5459663-Jun2021/

Yeah, it's the Gardaí who need to be questioned here, not the delinquents. Imagine how demoralising that is to read if you are a Garda in the midst of having glass bottles thrown at you in the course of doing your job and you hear that waffle?

There is a huge appetite from the public for more stringent powers where it comes to juvenile crime. How often do you hear about young adults up in court having racked up 30 or 40 previous convictions?
We must start tackling the issue head on before it gets to that stage. Unfortunately, the appetite to do this is not coming from the political parties, so I have no idea how it'll ever get any better and in fact, may only continue to get worse.

The lads around my way haven't sacrificed anything, they were still congregating in large groups, knacker drinking, having parties etc.

What aspect of under 18's lives have been sacrificed exactly? Not like they were going to pubs/clubs/restaurants before the pandemic was it? In fact, they had loads of extra time off school to get up to whatever they wanted.

As usual people are putting up the worst examples of Irish society. To be honest though, they probably wouldn't go to such extremes if it weren't for the social norms and the fact that you do have teachers, police, professionals of all sorts who see nothing wrong with binge drinking on weekends.

If you're complaining about these delinquents and at the same time going out for eight pints on a Friday night then I would say you are part of the same disease.

I often wonder why no political party has formed or tended towards a stronger criminal justice system and a stronger police force, as well as less support for those unwilling to work. I feel that a majority of people would vote for it. At least it would be nice to have the chance to vote for something different.

What part of going out for a few (or few too many) drinks is the same as smashing up someone's work vehicle.

Where is the malice in having a few drinks? I know lots of people in my social circle who can manage to go out and have a quiet drink, and on a separate night, get so drunk that they can't walk. On neither occasion do they end up damaging other people's property, giving Gardai hassle, abusing the public or anything similar. They go home.

The people in these videos are destroying the place, drunk or sober, daily. It's a different type of person altogether.

I'm no saint myself but this country has a ridiculous relationship with alcohol - in every age grouping. It permeates every occasion. Are we that repressed that we can't enjoy ourselves without using a mind altering drug?

It always amazes me when I watch these videos the noises that emanate from the surrounding crowd. Humans always seem to revert to their inner primative primate by screeching and getting agitated as a group.
Just a general observation, to solve this we should geld the boys involved with a rusty blade and charge their family for the cost of it.

I don't know what they're doing sober. Probably more sinister crimes. But alcohol is unquestionably the most common factor in casual anti-social behaviour.

One guy can have a lot to drink and stumble home. People still don't really like to see that but he isn't causing any problems directly.

The next guy stumbles home and has a pee against someone's wall. Probably 90% of grown males have done this.

The next guy stumbles home, has a pee, and a sing song.

The next guy has a bag of chips on the way and throws the bag on the ground.

The next guy is shouting across the street at his mates.

    Glasses broken on pavements.

    Scraps.

    Open wounds.

    Police sirens.

    Crying women.

    Etc.

Why do people hate being the designated driver? Because what goes on in your average pub, and around town on any normal weekend is disgusting.

The OP said he feels that he doesn't belong to this culture.

In a lot of places you would see families with young kids out and about for a stroll in city centres at 10pm or later on a Saturday night. It's a nice thing that they can do that in peace, without any concern at all.

Even 20 years ago we as youth had respect for the Gardai, I know my friends and most other teens feared them or even worse, what our parents would think if a Guard came knocking on our door. I know I'd get a good kick in the hole and wouldn't be spoken to for ages if I brought trouble home. The disappointment of my parents in me would be worst of all.

Fast forward 20 years, parents these days are handed everything for free, no work ethic and a total lack of personal responsibility. The world owes them a free house and cash for fags and cans. This has created the carefree attitude of the teen scum in Dublin over the weekend. They know they won't face any legal action, they know they'll still get their free money and most of all their parents just won't care. The feral teen has no one to look up to. There's no one displaying disappointment in the kid, just excuses for him.

    Scum breeding scum.

Love the comments that it's only a very small percentage bringing down the tone

If it's only a very small percentage then why is it blatant across the country in major cities ? Why in every big town is there always a contingent of grey tracksuit wearing pricks in suped up cars, or out looking for "gear" etc

If it's such a small percentage then why can't they be controlled and ****ed out of it the right way

I'm all for the the police upping the game and using a strong arm on the "very small percentage" , it needs to be dealt with once and for all
