Why is the search engine on boards something similar to 1992 version of google? I mean it absolutely dreadful. The worst I’ve ever encountered. Why, in 2021 is it so bad?

Why is the search engine on boards something similar to 1992 version of google? I mean it absolutely dreadful. The worst I’ve ever encountered. Why, in 2021 is it so bad?

Do you have specific feedback other than 'it's so bad'? What do you expect it to do that it does not do?

By the way, Google was created in 1998 so I don't know what you were using in 1992!

I mean the technology is archaic. Yes, I typed in a specific sentence to find a post from myself 6 months ago. All it was showing me was random similar words dating back 12/13 years ago

For something that specific, a Google search can actually be a better approach.

If you enter site:boards.ie "YOUR SENTENCE HERE" , it often finds the post in question.

e.g. site:boards.ie "you can either wrap the link in image tags manually"

produces https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin//showthread.php?p=115875366 (though you may have to scroll to find the actual post)

Odd suggestion, since you can do the same thing using boards search and get direct links to the post (and it's updated faster): https://www.boards.ie/search/submit/?query=%22you+can+either+wrap+the+link+in+image+tags+manually%22. The issue here isn't using Google vs using Boards search, it's that if you're looking for a specific phrase, you need to wrap quotes around it
