Hello,
Last year - an American startup company reached out to me over LinkedIn and I was in the process of interviewing for a role.

During the interview process I asked the recruiter about pensions, tax etc.

It turns out the company wasn't set up as an entity in Ireland so I couldn't work for them and the role fell through.

A different American startup company has now reached out to me over LinkedIn and I told them I am not interested given previous experience

The recruiter has confirmed that the company does not have a legal entity in Ireland. However, they make it work through a remote setup going through a third party.

Does anyone have any more information on this? Does it sound like a dodgy setup?
