Not sure why Alonso is being mentioned here. He had no part in the red card nor either goal tbh. He’s played fine.

Didn’t see the first but the striker takes a step after striking the ball and runs into the attempted block. They need to change this habit of yellows for attempting to block shots where strikers momentum takes them into the defender. Not every touch is a foul.

That Alonso shot that just hit the post was going in but the defender on the line got a foot on it to deflect it away.

Just on this too - He’s a wing-back. His defensive expectations would be minimal anyway.

WBA worked it into the box and Mendy pulled off a good save from Pereira.
