Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    May I correct thee!

We are not SPINSTERS. We are UNCLAIMED TREASURES... And don;t you forget that! Pearls beyond price... JEWELS!

Just realised that that was what we used to say when I was at University! In the early 1960s! NB I am not unclaimed in the usual sense but the world sees me as that....

AH thank you! In many places here that would have been chopped up for firewood! Well in times past anyway.. It is rather splendid!

Summer is still here. Very much so. Until it decides else. It does not turn off like a tap!

Actually autumn is my favourite season, " Season of mellow fruits.." Gentler and more nostalgic than summer. A time to assess and gather.. mmmm! Hedges dripping with glossy blackberries,... gathering fuel for winter fires... Hoarding .... Summer is too active for me... The one thing i miss out here is TREES and autumn. My first autumn in Ireland after a decade in treeless Outer Orkney.. I used to drive round just to see the autumn glory as it was /is too windy here. YAY.. happy here!

Homeside, just back from my GP.

Most of the infection is gone, but I still have a 2€ coin-sized crater in my right leg that will need looking at. At least, there's nothing holding me back from getting back to work on Monday, even though I'll work from home for the time being...

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

It's probably just me but I'm fascinated by looking at wounds and injuries 🙄🙃

Honestly, because I'm getting stir-crazy here. My mind is back up and running and I need to put it to use 🤐

Besides, the weather forecast for next week looks horrible anyway, so working from home would have been the order of the day anyway 🌧️🌧️

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

Been a funny old day... Lovely sun.. The most... strenuous... things i did were pick blackberries early on, and then pick assorted small flowers for a pretty mug.. The ocean views still captivate as much as they did seven years ago.

My back went suddenly yesterday a few miles from home.. A long hobble home and only one pub on the way 😂 couldn't get on a bus. I wouldn't mind I felt fairly well earlier.

I also have what some might consider a ghoulish fascination with the workings of the human body, especially my own. Although other people's injuries do make me cringe and wince, I can watch any procedure on myself with rapt interest!

I'm utterly fascinated and have watched multiple stitches and staples on myself, my next back procedure will have a camera feed too.

Slightly less fascinated by that topic over here 😉 Just had to change the bandage on my leg, so far for having it changed twice per week. Looks like it’ll remain twice a day for me…

Either way, couchside here, watching a documentary on the Event Horizon Telescope team and their work…

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

Getting dolled up to go out for dinner with my OH to celebrate getting my new job in academia. 😊👍

Took tomorrow off - so a long weekend awaits! 😎🌈

Nope, I love pineapple on pizza 🍕🍕

My favorite would be pineapple, sweet corn, mushrooms, onion peppers ! With a large garlic dip!

Nearly weekend already? Although life now is one looooong weekend.. It has been a peaceful and largely uneventful day. Rather pleasant.

Im taking tomorrow off, don't need to set an alarm tonight tf, is there anything worse than the sound of on a work morning, I usually wake before it if I can, absolutely hate being woken out of my sleep.

Time for Married at first sight now, it's good so far.

Hey all, I love a bit of pineapple, sweetcorn and. jalapenos on my pizza.

But couldn't eat even the crust right now. Been in bed all day, well except when I have been vomiting.

A much loved uncle died on Tuesday so I came home from Albania yesterday evening intending to go to wake today and funeral tomorrow. Today didn't hapoen, I hope I can go tomorrow.

Decided to leave Albania for now and spend some time at home. Uncle's death reminded me of my parent's mortality so want to spend some time with them before go to Spain in November for a month. Also feel it's going to hit dad very hard in the coming weeks so thought he could do with the support.

Totally forgot about MAFS , must see if I can catch up on it at the weekend.

I have a mental image of MO4 and DD along the roads of EP.

Pretending to be all motherly to lost 20 year old fellas.

"Ah you poor pet, you can have digs with us, we'll get a hot meal into you and you can have a hot bath." 🤭🤭

Two hours later, the minxes have him back home, with a baby camera trained on the bath while they sip wine watching in the kitchen 🤣🤣

Everyone has left for the funeral except my brother-in-law and my one-year-old niece and me. Still too sick and don't want to pass germs to any vulnerable and elderly relatives.

Gutted I don't get to say goodbye.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,634 ✭✭✭✭Graces7

Would you be able to visit the grave later? Maybe take flowers? That is what I did when i was too ill to go to a funeral. And it was deeply meaningful.

Yes and will go spend time with my aunt and cousins in the coming weeks.

Watched the funeral online and now watching an aunt in England's funeral. Yup lost an aunt and an uncle within 11 days of each other.

Didn't know that aunt so well but still sad. She was 92 years old and has a book written about her and was a bit of a celebrity last year when the book came out. She was the longest-working hairdresser in the UK.

It seems surreal to be watching 2 funerals and they overlapped by a few minutes. Both mentioning the other funeral. My parents were meant to be at the one in England today but ended up at my dad's brother's instead of his sister-in-law's.
