Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can anyone recommend a career coach they've used?

    Hi,

    I've searched through a few threads like this and I realise there are mixed feelings on whether career coaches can add value. But I was wondering if anyone has successfully used a career coach that they would recommend?

    I seem to be going in the opposite direction to most people but I'm trying to get out of IT - I've been in it for over 20 years and I'm completely burned out by it - partly because I'm working in an awful role and company right now - but deep down it doesn't excite me any more - the fun is gone and I just feel like it's monotonous.

    I've tried to narrow down my skills and interested by myself but I'm really struggling - I have some money left over from a redundancy so I can afford to retrain - but one good thing about IT has been the job security and I'm v afraid of ending up in something where there are no prospects. That's why I feel like a professional might help - I got some outsourcing a few years ago after a redundancy but the career coach was useless and I don't know anyone else in real life who has used one.

    I used Joe Casey who is based in wexford. I was about to turn 40 and really did not want to stay in my career field. I found it a useful exercise up to a point but the answers will come from within and there is only so much that someone can do to help. He made me realize how limited my choices are at my age, and to be realistic about what I could achieve. But don't expect instant clarity from one of them.
