Should I go in through OP's link or go direct to Keep Solid?

How do I get into the Redeem section?
Have I to set up an account and then choose a payment option?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,273 ✭✭✭✭Hurrache

When you create an account you'll see a Redeem button somewhere along the top, click that.

I also have it but had to also get ExpressVPN as amazon was identifying it as VPN use when trying to watch Prime video. Also not as smooth as ExpressVPN for buffering video but you get what you pay for.

Still find it useful for stuff like connecting to US etc.

When i go on the site i seem to have to pay pre any redeem option appearing??

Just want to check this is right before proceeding

    On android

    Install the app.
    Run it
    Skip the sign in bits.

    Hit the hamburger button
    Go to redeem a code
    Type in the vpnmacxdns
It'll say code has been redeemed.

Then on the main screen it shows you have 6 months 5 days left.

    That worked for me anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 340 ✭✭normanbond

Any similar method to get it on iPhone ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,023 ✭✭✭manodepeeple

Have had the Lifetime sub for quite a while now. Very good VPN - hasn't failed yet (though I'm not really thrashing the hell out of it).
    Doesn't seem to throttle speeds..

Anyone any tips on installing this (or any VPN) on the VF Gigabit Router?

This was the easiest method for me, just ensure the code is all uppercase.

Thanks for the tip. I can finally watch BBC iplayer.

Anyone know some other good websites to use with this? I don't have Netflix/Prime Video.

Are these things safe? Two people have told me that they harvest your data or something.

They're welcome to comb through my exciting BBC viewing history if they want.
I wouldn't leave it turned on for my other internet use

Taken from the thread I already mentioned.
....... it is not possible to make any meaningful security assessment of a VPN, without deep access to the operation.

Using any public VPN service increases your security risk immensely. Not only are you at the mercy of the VPN provider, but such services are prime targets for criminals and state actors. Worst case, any unencrypted information on your device could be at risk.

I posted an article on VPN security, in a post last week. Some VPN's routinely suck all available information from your device including your location, device ID, browsing history and god knows what else. By the way, just because a VPN provider says they don't keep logs is no guarantee that they, or a third party, don't maintain a record.

IMO using a VPN on a device with sensitive information, or used for any type of financial transaction (e.g. shopping or banking) is bordering on reckless. I suggest that, unless you are knowledgeable on such matters, use VPN's on streaming devices only. 'Free' trials are even more dangerous as many use your computer resources for what could be criminal activity.

With all that said, our data is probably being harvested already anyways during just general online activity.

No probably about it, everyone from your ISP to google, facebook (you'd be surprised by their reach) etc are at it. Ever done a voice search on your phone? You can listen back to it and cringe in your google account settings :D

If you drive a connected car the amount of data generated is staggering.

It's not an excuse to make it easy for them though and just click accept or not to take basic measures to limit the amount of information you let them have.

Anyway as far as vpns go all are not equal in this regard and this one logs stuff I'd not be happy with putting on a pc or phone. A TV or game console maybe but even at that.

In brief - it helps you cheat about your real geolocation - better prices for some services, access to some country restricted things, etc...

    Nope.

You need nothing for Irish Prime vid, any other Prime would require Smart DNS.

Just to mention that the current 6 month free VPN offer (see first post) ends in 11 hours from now

And don't forget to sign in if you plan to use other devices or might delete the app.

Ok I know what a VPN and used and old one years ago.

However, havent used on in years. Considering one for HBO Max, Peacock etc... whats the best one to use? The one in the OP. I dont mind paying if one.

Then how do I use it with my devices these days. Previously I had to giggle my settings myself and was a pain in the backside, is that still the case?

    Thanks in advance

Depends on your device. I find this VPN very good for general TV viewing and it's cheap.

I only ever used it on my laptop around 6 years ago to watch Netflix Us and BBCiplayer. I feel that it may be more complicated to use a smart tv or tablet.... that said Ive no clue

    As regards VPN and security:

Could I use it on my Laptop only ( an 10 year old laptop) I use internet banking on my phone only not on my laptop so does this eliminate any risk as regards that?

(I use Revenue ROS online system in my laptop also)
Only problem is my phone worked as a hotspot/tethering for my laptop, but it recently wouldnt failed to tether / connect to phone hotspot.

I would only use VPN for media streaming. I wouldn't have it switched on for banking or anything like that.

The VPN mentioned in the OP also has extensions for Chrome/Firefox/Opera etc so you can always just use them individually rather than turning on the VPN for your computer as a whole. :D

Nord VPN is €68 euro for two years. €2.97 a month.

Says you get a "Gift" as well but no idea what that means
