I think I'm at about 24. It'll be an excuse to hit the road when the lockdown is lifted. Stay a night and check out somewhere new. :)

Oh , forgot, Donegal, Derry and Antrim.....and Cavan and Westmeath (that was in Moate so I try to block that one from my memory)

    Good call.

Have not drank in Fermanagh, Tyrone, Antrim, Armagh, Monaghan, Roscommon, Kilkenny or Tipp.

26, and no not all yer the Republic.

Actually a cool thread, not for the responses but for the memories. I was like jaysus I never had a pint in Cavan and then remembered the Pumpkin Festival I was at there. Or I thought I never had a pint in the next county over and remembered a 21st.

26/26 I'm fairly certain. Had a field engineer role years ago that had lots of two and three day installations with overnights. I've probably slept in nearly all 26/26 too

31/32 with Armagh missing unless I've forgotten something but I've only ever stayed over in (different places in) Antrim of the NI counties - the rest would be nightclubs I was driven to / bussed to years ago.

If you mean specifically a pint, probably not many. But if you broaden it to a glass or a bottle, 32.

27 counties... missing Tyrone, Armagh, Offaly, Carlow & Laois.

Not as good as I had originally thought. I haven't really spent any time around the Border counties or NW Ireland, or I just drive through other counties without stopping for a drink. So 18/26. Haven't gone out in Laois, Clare, Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal, Longford, Monaghan or Cavan.
If we're including Norn Iron, then 3/6. Still to do Fermanagh, Tyrone and Armagh.

In Ulster / Connaght I've only drank in Galway and Cavan, done all Munster and half of Leinster,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 478 ✭✭Ramasun

I'm as bad as NPHET now, I have to revise down my figures.

I completely forgot Laois and I've somehow avoided a pint in Westmeath.

I’m unsure about counties but I could tell you the state I’ve been in after pints.

Galway, Dublin, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Clare, Tipperary, Sligo and Roscommon.

The Roscommon one was in Boyle, very drab town back then but maybe its better these days.

Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Clare, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Donegal, Fermanagh, Leitrim, Roscommon, Westmeath, Offaly, Laois, Carlow, Killkenny, Kildare, Wicklow, Dublin, Louth, Down.

How could you miss Mayo? People are more or less permanently pissed there.

Galway too, but you filled that one.

I'd say all of them bar a couple in the North. Does cans in a field count?

Every single one and by the time I was 22

But I was a sales rep way back then and covered the whole country and you'd have a pint with lunch with the customers regularly.

Kerry and Donegal were the best especially if you were staying over.

Mobile phones were in their infancy back then, the internet did not exist and every business had a fax machine - that gives you an idea of how long ago it was.

The sales reps left from that era (or a little before maybe) in the place I worked remembered having a full desktop PC and CRT monitor bolted in to the boot in their company car for doing software demos - because laptops were too expensive / unreliable. Liquid lunches would have been the norm there too.

Surprised by Tipp coming up on the No lists, have ye not been for a pint before a match in Thurles? Are ye true Gaels at all?? :p

Oddly enough, I was trying to work out how many towns and villages in Ireland I have drank in the other night, including my own county Wexford, where I could even narrow it down to specific pubs.

    Antrim: Belfast
    Armagh: Crossmaglen
    Carlow: Carlow Town, Tullow
Cork: Cork City, Bantry, Skibbereen, Midleton, Cloyne.
    Derry: Derry City
    Donegal: Donegal Town
Dublin: Ranelagh, Rathmines, Phibsborough, Drumcondra, Donnybrook, Stillorgin, Malahide, Croker, Airport, UCD, city centre
Galway: Galway City, Salthill, Athenry, Portumna, Craughwell, Loughrea, Claremorris
    Kerry: Killarney
Kildare: Moyvalley (don't know the nearest town), Curragh racecourse.
    Kilkenny: Kilkenny City
    Laois: Portlaoise
    Limerick: Limerick City, UL
    Louth: Drogheda, Dundalk, Castelbellingham.
    Mayo: Castlebar, Ballina, Breaffy, Westport
    Meath: Navan, Trim
    Offaly: Birr, Tullamore
    Sligo: Sligo Town
Tipperary: Thurles, some tiny village in the middle of nowhere for a wedding
Waterford: Waterford City, Dungarvan, Lemybrien (or whatever the village between Dungarvan and Youghal is called)
    Westmeath: Rochfordbridge, Kinnegad
Wexford: Gorey, Enniscorthy, Bunclody, Wexford Town, Courtown, Ballygarrett, Kilmuckridge, Oylegate, Ferns, Camolin, Oulart, Castlebridge, Ballindaggin, Monamolin, Monageer, Ballyedmond, Ballycanew, Killenagh, Castletown, Coolgreany.
    Wicklow: Arklow, Carnew, Laragh.

I suppose the stand-outs are I have never drank in Clare, Mullingar or Athlone, and have only driven through, or attended GAA matches in, the other counties I didn't mention.

I have a weird memory of exact places I have been :D

I had a pint and a snog in Derry, a pint and had me bum grabbed in Belfast.

Had a pint and was spat at in Caark and had a pint and was kicked in the stomach in Dublin.

    (all by women)

    Loved it.

Waterford, Kilkenny, Cork, Tipperary, Limerick, Kerry, Dublin, Meath (suppose Slane Castle would count) and Kildare. Hopefully I'll add a few more when the pandemic is over

I'm delighted that I had a pint in the famous o'donoghue's pub on Merrion row a while back. A little confusing as there's another o'donoghue's pub on Suffolk Street. Anyone know what the story is with that?

Its a common surname, they aren't connected.

There are about ten pubs with Graingers as/in their name in Dublin and they're not even all connected.

    Republic - 23/26 - missing leitrim / monaghan / louth.
North - 1/6 - i've been in 5 of the 6 counties, but have only drank in Derry. Jaysus, that was only last year - the last work trip i went on before lockdown.
