There will be a senior debut for Garryowen’s Cian Hurley with Diarmuid Barron, Jake Flannery and Paddy Patterson all making their first Munster starts.

Four Greencore Munster Rugby Academy players are set to feature as Thomas Ahern and Flannery both start with Jack Daly and Ben Healy among the replacements.

20-year-old Clonakilty man Hurley makes his Munster debut in the second row. A product of Clonakilty RFC and CBC, Hurley has made five appearances for Munster A this season and is a member of the National Talent Squad.

Flannery, who will advance to the senior squad next season, makes his first start for the province at full-back having made his previous two senior appearances off the bench.

There will also be a first start for hooker Barron on his 11th appearance for the province with loanee scrum-half Patterson making his first start after his debut last week.

Andrew Conway and Liam Coombes join Flannery in the back three with Rory Scannell and Alex McHenry forming the centre partnership.

Patterson and JJ Hanrahan start in the half-backs.

Liam O’Connor, Barron and Keynan Knox pack down in the front row with Hurley and Ahern in the second row.

Captain Jack O’Donoghue, Chris Cloete and Jack O’Sullivan complete the side.

Matt Gallagher is among the replacements and set for his first action since sustaining a shoulder injury in November.

Tommy O’Donnell is in line to make his 186th Munster appearance and features for the first time since January.

Flannery at 15 is good to see. MG back fit to make the bench.

I'd rather have Crowley have gotten another 20 minutes over Healy, given that Carbery and JJ looked nailed on for the 23 against Leinster.

On the MR thread I originally missed out it being Hurley's first start but completely missed it being Barron's first start too. 4 new starts is good to see even if one might not be with us next season.

Great to see so many first starts and another first cap.

Big job on for Jack O'Donoghue to keep them all in check à la Billy Holland but having the experience of Conway, JJ and Scannell should be a massive help

Munster must be comfortable with where he is match fitness wise. He's going to be starting the next two games.

Conway and JOD the only probable starters for the final involved tomorrow.

Didn't realise Conway was available to us, he needs the minutes to be fair

Josh Wycherley has had 1 start since Clermont

I'm not so sure about Conway. I think Daly-Haley-Earls might be the choice. Daly not being involved tomorrow might be a good sign for him. Haley started the previous four games so was always going to be rested for this.

Earls is unlikely to be available. And I don't see Daly as being automatically ahead of Conway at all.

Injured recently apparently. He's still in the academy, so not listed in the weekly updates.

Early kickoff tonight. Most of the team will be looking to put their hand up for Rainbow Cup appearances in a few weeks.

Weather looks great. A chance to throw the ball around.

Benetton could be dangerous on the counter

Just a little disjointed at the moment...will take a while for them to find their rhythm

  • Registered Users Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭ thomond2006

Great play by Ahern to force that error.

    Belter of a try.

That's two awful hooks at the scrum in a row to turnover possession now. Really poor stuff

Knox looks lazy I know he's a prop but lots of standing and slow walking

WTF? That's an outrageously good try from nothing

That last offload at the try line was phenomenal looking on the replay
