Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Public service vs civil service

    Currently a public service employee and have been offered a role in civil service.

    Just wondering in other people's experiences, what they found to be pros and cons for both? I'm doing some research and noticed annual leave, working hours per week etc are a bit different?

    Any insight would be great from those who have worked in both

    Depends where in public service as there are very differing rules across the public service as opposed to civil where it's pretty much all the same.
    One thing I found in my experience was that a lot of CS seems to see themselves as Civil Servants as opposed to ICT specialist or HR , Finance etc. . In Public my experience was that IT , Finance etc... were specialist and were building careers in their chosen area. In CS a lot of people move from Hr to finance to ICt depending on where a promotion is and this is let happen so experienced staff are let move to areas where their experience is irrelevant.
    CS
    Pros : A lot of scope to move within CS. Probation on promotions. Better work/life balance .
    Cons : little thought given to career experience.
    PS
    Pros : less rigid.
    Cons : often less movement opportunity , localised rules depending on area may not be same as other areas.
