There were more people in my local Tesco that there were at the so-called protests.

And they can't blame the weather.

    They'll blame the Gardai.

I see Dee got her mug on Virgin Media news there.

Well the police were quite heavy handed but most protesters complied with direction.

    16 arrests.

For some reason these particular protests just cant pass without people getting arrested.

Twice the police took my details and warned me for "congregating" this afternoon (12.35 and 12.44)

    Madness
Please don't tell me you goose stepped up to the checkpoints?

    Well yes.

I apparently wasn't allowed to stand on O'Connell Street, on my own because I was congregating.

I was standing at a bus stop after being at the chemist.

Yet this very weekend you could be a heroin addict wandering around the street waiting to get to his or her chemist and they wouldn't give a monkeys arse about it

so Garda decided not to form a line (a target) and block those entering a public park today?

Its a shame they have to put resources to babysitting "adults" but c'est la vie.

You should go out and protest about it.

If the laws were policed equally, then I would expect that yesterday's protests would have had similar numbers.

I guess the increased police presence and the exceptional policing of regulations led to an exaggerated number of arrests.

Well the police were quite heavy handed but most protesters complied with direction.

    You mean the GARDAÍ.

So it's OK to organise a protest and openly taunt and threaten the Gardaí,
as happened the last time protests were held, but it's not OK when the Gardaí step up to prevent braches of the peace or general thuggery this time out.

To use your own word, its madness that those intent on breaching health guidelines complain that they are challenged for doing so.

Nah cousin I'll wait another 3 or 2, probably will be 1 year and then go vote about it instead. I won't be alone in doing so either.

She is painful flying around the country, live streaming while driving, harassing people, while living off the generous disability payments, with her crutch that's more like a prop at this stage.

Ah yes its definitely not the fault of the protestors that got themselves arrested. Its some kind of bias.

They can put those resources in place anytime they want, we are all paying or will pay enough for everything else as it is.

Be great to see that level of Gardai presence all year round on O'Connell street when the real trouble is actually happening

Be even better to see it at the next Traveller funeral/piss up/marquee event.

Fairly disappointing turnout for the organizers. A year into the restrictions and still no appetite for protesting.

Yet according to some on here, the country is seething with discontent and ready to take to the streets in their thousands. Shown up for the complete bull**** it is

I think the Garda checkpoints and Gardaí checking buses etc are the main reasons the turnout is low.

Do you not see increasing resentment towards the government, the restrictions and the vaccine rollout?

Agree with Gardaí taking action against those taking the piss today but also agree Gardaí not doing enough against crime on O'Connell Street on a day to day basis.

Two entirely separate things and if you don't understand how the context around both affects matters, you're lacking a few brain cells.

They’re simply following the restrictions in place
