I see Dublin Airport got in on the 'fun', as has the King of the Netherlands.

This is what she should have focused on 3 yrs ago instead of trashing her in-laws. I am sure it will be hugely successful although it feels a bit late to the party. There's a cook book and a Netflix cooking series in the works. If she cant make a go of this with WME behind her then there is no hope for her brand. This is well within her comfort zone, similar to The Tig.

Her in-laws thrashed themselves by the way they behaved towards her. Karma has caught up with them now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,900 ✭✭✭suvigirl

Really? What way did they behave towards her? I thought she said she was made very welcome to the royal family, as far as I know the Queen even found people to help her with the transition and teach her about protocols etc.

did they not say it was the press that behaved badly towards her?

We're surely fast approaching the point where they shed their human skin and reveal their true lizard form.

One of the Mail's columnists today - in a fair and balanced article - suggests the RF is in a fair spot of bother and could well be on its way out, not unless it can turn the tide of negative publicity and loss of credibility. He's not just talking about the Kate photo, but everything that has happened since the Queen died.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,300 ✭✭✭✭jm08

Stuff the 'protocols'. It didn't matter what she did, she would get those wrong (i.e., closing the door of a car, wearing dark nail polish, hair meant to be loose, patting her baby bump, eating avocada toast, etc. etc. They did not pull the press up when they made racist comments about her (i.e., straight out of Compton, her blood would thicken the royal blood). Sending Knauf in to testify against her for the Mail on Line (when the judge dismissed his testament as irrelevant). Then billionaire Charles said that she should get a job as he couldn't afford to keep her (basically expecting her to work for nothing), not once did they correct misinformation in the press (e.g., correct the lie that she made Kate cry). She was treated so badly by the British press that something like 80 female British MPs wrote a letter condemning their racist, misogonist carry on. Not once did the Royal Family stand up for her.

Then, taking her home and security from her and her children. Nasty, Nasty 'family'. They should be ashamed of themselves. She and Harry are lucky to escape from that mess of a family.

After they bumped off Diana the public had about enough of them and they were in real danger of getting the boot. They hired Saatchi & Saatchi to help them with PR and they came up with the fallacy that they brought in more money than they cost due to tourism. This is of course a blatant lie and the simple way to prove that is only across the English chanel in France. They are the worlds most visited tourist destination and the simple fact is that England could turf out the scroungers from all the palaces, keep the lads in silly uniforms outside and the same amount of tourists would visit them. No one goes to the Palace of Versailles and say's it would be more authentic if a man in tights and a powdered wig lived upstairs. I see the Mail has 10 articles on Meghan trying to distract from old Willy and Kate's impending divorce.

They did pull them up. Harry, William...

Did Harry not actually warn Meghan about what the press were like? He had 150 articles of press intrusion/hacking. If Meghan was actually some babe in the woods while they became serious then that is Harrys fault.

Is subsequent behaviour leaking out to the press everyone elses fault or is it the fault of those behaving the way they did? Like a pair of teenagers. Valentine Low, who described them as that, put it best in Courtiers. He said the family, the institution itself knew they would be judged on how well integrated into the fold Meghan would be and all the stops were pulled out. The mistake they made, per Low, is that they assumed Meghan wanted to be happy i.e. she was interested in modernising the royal role insofar as accepting gifts, getting paid, free to side hustle but it was never going to be a long term gig. She retained (and was allowed to retain) her PR in America (Sunshine Sachs) and it isn't unreasonable to think America was always the end goal.

They all got hapiness in the end. The teenager like Sussexes were gone and staff/family didn't have to deal with it anymore while Harry and Meghan got to make their own agendas and money without any rules and protocols (except using HRH styles on books, podcasts, Instagram etc.).

Nothing to do with the fact that the driver was drunk and speeding and also that she wasn't wearing her safety belt.. Oh no, the logical answer is that she was 'bumped' off..🫣

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,900 ✭✭✭suvigirl

So, the answer is yes, the press behaved badly towards her.

Yeesh, the sheer brass neck of the Torygraph and friggin Camilla Tominey of all people to come out with this tripe.

She couldn't just let things go for a minute and even included a dig at Meghan and Harry in the piece.

I've often wondered which gets tired first, the arm or the forelock?

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,300 ✭✭✭✭jm08

So sending Knauf in to attack her in court was the bad behaviour of the press? Charles telling Harry that Meghan should get a job as he couldn't afford to keep her? (26 million a year profit from Duchy of Cornwall) and Meghan was expected to get a job, have kids and work for the firm as well?

Ryanair got a call from the Palace to take down some silly tweet about William. The palace was shown up by the female British MPs who signed a letter of complaint about the racist, misogynist treatment she was getting in the British press.

And why didn't Kate correct the lies about Meghan making her cry. Charles & William are responsible for the hate campaign against her and there isn't a chance that Meghan and Harry will return to the UK and pretend to be a united family.

You really are blinkered, you believe anything so long as it can be portrayed as anti royal family.

Knauf gave witness testimony in a court case.

As far as I know Meaghan didn't get a job and worked royal duties until she decided it didn't suit her anymore?

you bang on about then not saying anything to the press, or not forcing the press to do something, surely even you can see now, with the press reports about Kate, that they have no control whatsoever over the press. to think otherwise is ridiculous.

The queen was a very sensible woman in her approach to the media, the royal family should stick with 'never complain, never explain '

as for Meaghan and Harry returning? Not sure anyone has ever indicated that this is wanted?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,458 ✭✭✭valoren

The approach as described earlier was to ensure any transition would be as smooth as possible. The getting told to get an acting job is another example of subsequent spin. Meghan was given the flexibility of continuing acting if she chose to. She didn't make that choice and so once they left, and wanted to be victims, this gets twisted into the evil family with all the money at their disposal effectively forcing her to continue acting to pay her way.

Read the article. They are old. 2021. In this particular case, the rangers are managed by the Government run Parks & Wildlife Service. There was an investigation which found that the Government Rangers (not African Parks rangers) were attacked by poachers and they acted in self defence.

I assume the intention of the Mail is to blacken Harry's/African Parks name so that they don't receive any charitable donations.

The Mail is really scared of Harry and upcoming court cases. Hopefully he will put them out of business. The UK would be a far better place without them.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,300 ✭✭✭✭jm08

Then why did Charles tell Harry that he couldn't afford her upkeep?

What you are repeating is tabloid spin!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,691 ✭✭✭Karppi

Would it be more accurate, then, to say, "allegations recently surfaced"? Whichever way you look at it, African Parks need to resolve this long running saga.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,691 ✭✭✭Karppi

Then why did Charles tell Harry that he couldn't afford her upkeep?

As that comes from the Gospel according to Harry, I'll be treating it accordingly; you'll recall that the DHS lawyer argued that Spare is not “proof” ... and could have been embellished to “sell books”. I'll take his counsel.

No, it’s to get Justice for the victims of rape and to get Harry to take responsibility for letting this happen on his watch.

Unless of course he’s just using the charity to make his image more marketable?

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,300 ✭✭✭✭jm08

This one has nothing to do with African Parks. Their rangers were not involved. Its the British Government who should be appealing to the Government about the courts decision which cleared the rangers of any misdoing.

    Weak.

So you will be taking the same DHS lawyer's counsel that Harry's visa application has nothing to do with a British funded court challenge?

It's just adding her name to it, down to marketing guys to make a go of it, Ivanka Trump tried same and went down in flames.

You mean the other way around surely. African Parks has about 20 directors, some of them there for a long time and Harry is the one they pick on to associate with the rape of victims! Give me a break.

Netflix CEO Sarandos is quoted in Forbes recently on the Obamas and the Sussexs

The formerly royal couple, England’s Prince Harry and spouse Meghan Markle, brought different pertinent skills to their Netflix deal beyond Markle’s long acting career, Sarandos said.

“The documentary we did on them is still one of our most-watched documentaries of all time on Netflix and huge, particularly in the UK, where people just devour everything about them,” Sarandos said. “They're controversial, but that's usually a good thing. You may love them or hate them, but you're watching. And I do think that they are also going to be very strong storytellers, with great exposure to media in terms of what people want to talk about, what they think about, and they're great at getting attention.”

Not incidentally, Sarandos said, “They've taken that attention, and turned it into great (philanthropic) work around the world. And you can see the kind of impact that they have and they can have 0n other celebrities, which is very smart. And we're really happy with that one too.”
