They must add in the first race roar onto the TV coverage. It is important.
What about the eejit that throws the newspapers up in the air at every finish?

Just to get the ball rolling!! :
To me it looks like it could be a good day for Fav backers.
Nothing stands out as a major danger to Appreciate It in the first. Blue Lord gets my EW money.
Think Shiskin will get the better of Enurgemene. Captain Guinness going well at the DRF when coming down looks an EW bet here.
Happygolucky hits a lot of stats in the Ultima so is my win bet. Aye Right the danger. Good race for the Brits normally.
Think Honeysuckle will maintain her unbeaten run. Think Sharjah & Abracadabras could make it an Irish 1-2-3.
Another shortie Concertista looks very strong in the Mares hurdle. Already have money on Black Tears EW here at decent prices.
Boodles often throws up a big price winner so I'll look for 2 at decent odds. Possibly Druids Altar and Glorious Zoff. Busselton backed at bigger prices.
Royale Pagaille shortening for the NHC with Galvin on the drift. Already backed Longhouse Poet so will try one more EW on the day. If Secret Reprieve runs here I will be backing. Not going to Cheltenham.

    Appreciate It
    Allmankind
    Aye Right
    Honeysuckle
    Concertista
    Teahupoo
    Royale Pagaille

Aye right the best bet of day 1. I think some sort of record will be broken this year for winning favourites. Just can't see past most of them, unlike recent years where I have been taking most of them on.

    Ballyadam ew
    Shishkin
    Happygolucky
    Honeysuckle
    Concertista
    Druids Altar ew
    Galvin.

Think Appreciate it will win the Supreme but wanted to take him on. Dont think the English challenge is up to much so had to be Ballyadam.

Not accoring to my AP bet and the exchange markets. Guess we'll see Weds if he is kept in the NH. But seems the general train of thought is the better the ground the more likely he is to stay in the NH

    National Hunt Chase

Will go with Acey Milan each way here, who's available at 50s. Is also entered in the Kim Muir. Am hoping the marathon trip and goodish ground can see him make a bold bid on his 5th chase start. Has shown some ability; albeit over hurdles, when the ground was close to good, when staying on over 6fs or so shorter, in May and November of 2019 at Punchestown and Haydock. Would like to think he has a chance, should he go to post.

Ive been telling myself this is the year we all bash the bookies. However, I've been saying that for about 15years

I'll be doing singles and have some combos of the below. They can't all win. Or can they 😅. Be great if it took a global pandemic for the Average Joe punter to bash the bookies.

    Happygolucky
    Concertista
    Shiskin
    Honeysuckle
    Royal Pag

    Currently planning towards...

Appreciate It on the nose, Keskonrisk e/w
    Shiskin
    Escaria Ten, Aso e/w
Honeysuckle on the nose, Aspire Tower e/w
    Concertista
    Longclaw e/w
    Royale Pagalle

As much as I'd love to say otherwise, it really is hard to look past most of the fav's.

There's either nothing to take them on with for win purposes (take the Supreme for an eg) or the alternative has questions to answer (Energumene). The benefits of ante post betting coming to the fore again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,022 ✭✭✭maximo31

Reading the JO'B preview he seems to be leaning towards the Ballymore now with Keskonrisk. Not set in stone yet though.

Longclaw is one I was looking into last night. Could be a nice EW bet. Just wondering did he move from Gordon after last week's news or was it moved before that?

I do think it was a poor race and yes she won it well but a few things went right for Epatante. Sharjah got a poor ride, Willie and Patrick both said it. The focus was kind of taken off that by the Stormy Ireland debacle afterwards which really drove them mad. I think Sharjah gets closer this year if the ground stays right for him. For the record I don’t think either of the first two home last year win in this year.

its an interesting race. lots of pace. lots of hold up horses.

my feeling is epatante is being forgotten about over 1 bad run. she was unbelievable beating sceau royal first time out .

i know sceau royal isnt winning champion hurdles but she laughed at him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 962 ✭✭✭john mayo 10

    It's a very interesting race.
For me its between Epatante, honeysuckle, Goshen and sharjah. Sharjah will arrive late on the scene, Goshen could destroy the field, We know honeysuckle stays 2 and a half miles which is needed to win a champion hurdle and if Epatante is right she's very dangerous. I do agree she has been forgotten about

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,338 ✭✭✭NATLOR

Honeysuckle is the bulletproof horse in the CH, questions over the other leading contenders but I'm on Goshen, has the potential ( IMO) to laugh at the others and he owes me from last year!

Agreed in the fact that I think Hokeysuckle is probably the only horse in the race that doesn't have question marks over her

You would think Abracadras will be primed for the day I can see them coming to the last and Honeysuckle kicking on to win by a few lengths

Goshen is a terrible price he has ran one good race all year against a decent horse, I expect him to be pulled up

Agree with all of this Nuts.

I'd say Abracadras has not been fully tunes for any of his other races this year. Elliott (remember him) knows this is likely the only race he'll get decent ground and a decent pace. He might not get by Honeysuckle, but he'll be the last horse on the bridle.

Agreed everything is pointing to him being primed for the race

He only narrowly went down to Shiskin who people think is a superstar

And was left in front a long time. Tbf Shishkin didnt have the safest of passages. Last years CH was dire and if Goshen wins i'll give up the game tbh.

If Bob Ollinger is as good as everyone is saying, Blue Lord was only beaten a few lengths after pulling for two miles against him

In a strongly run supreme he could be an alternative if you want to take on the fav

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 2,036 Mod ✭✭✭✭The Mig

Yeah could see improvement from him with a stronger pace and better ground possibly. Only 6 lengths behind Appreciate it at the DRF

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,172 ✭✭✭NaiveMelodies

Blue Lord definitely the pick for me if he doesn't go County.

I use windfinder.com for local forecasts.
It shows almost no rain before Cheltenham (a small amount on Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon), reasonable temperatures, and a nice breeze ... drying conditions this week.

Yeah forecast has changed dramatically over the last few days, there was a lot of rain initially forecast.

If I was a betting man I'd say the ground might be going against Appreciate It in the Supreme Novices.
Not a 6/4 lump on job.

They watered the ground yesterday. Not taking any chances on quick ground I'd say
