Currently have a Google Pixel 3a XL and would like a change.

What option that won't break the bank would people feel would be a good upgrade?

I had lots of xiaomi phones all decent bar updates are kinds slow,I've currently my son's one plus 7 pro which is the best I've had, and that includes apple xs max, one Plus 7 pro is old but fab and cheap

Breaking bank is different for different people. You'll need to be more precise with a budget.

Samsung S20 series since it's a year old now, or S10 series if you're on a tighter budget. Pixel 5a sounds like it'll be announced soon which might be a natural upgrade.
