Saw it this evening at an early screening, no actual spoilers below but still tagging for those who want to know nothing

Very middling, forgettable entry into the dystopian genre.

Powell is fine, I'm not sure how to feel about him beyond being a generic leading man, I don't think he plays angry well which the movie sort of requires.

None of the other cast members have anything much to do (edit: Colman Domingo is good), the social commentary is both extremely on the nose and with very little to actually say, Wright's usual style and flair is missing too imo.

As far as 2025 Richard Bachman adaptations go The Long Walk does basically everything better.

Its really poor and I really wish they would stop pushing Glen Powell as somekind of A list star he is as average as they come.

Also what happened to Wright he was once a good director.

I see its 133 minutes long, thats very long for the type of film it is.

I liked Powell in Hit Man, he's not an action hero though (despite the Tom Cruise endorsements), he's much more of a Ryan Reynolds type imo.

Isn't this a movie Ryan Reynolds does all the time?
He was probably first on the list.

I like Powell in anything I've seen him in, tbh.

The original is great craic. This however, which I had the misfortune to see last night, is up there with Roman Polanski's "Pirates" as the joint worst film I've ever seen. Glen Powell delivers a performance that makes Schwarzenegger look like Olivier.

I quite enjoyed it for most of the film; it's not one I'm going to spend too much brain power on and I enjoyed it for what it was. The end, however, was unsatisfying, rushed and just not very good. Rather an anticlimax.

Now I know how my partner feels.

There was a lot of people in Bullet Train but Glen Powell wasn't one of them!

The original Running Man was on Film4 last night.
Typical 80s fare - I suggest nobody get too nostalgic about it without rewatching it.

Amazing accurate portrayal of 2017. 😅

Feels like a movie for Streaming Services and not for Cinema but haven't seen it yet.

Before Streaming Services home viewing was a DVD or Blueray to cherish.

This just looks like disposable entertainment for 2 hours.

I loved it, myself and the Mrs went to see it there at the weekend.

It's really not a cerebral watch, leave the brain on standby and enjoy the show, some hilarious moments in it. Lee Pace plays a better bad guy in foundation, Josh Brolin was enjoyable every time he was onscreen. Glen Powell was also enjoyable throughout, he's no Arnie, but he doesnt try to be either.

Well worth the few quid in VUE

(re)Watched the original on film four a few nights before, hasnt aged well tbh, but it's classic Arnie, the one-liners are gas.

Saw this tonight, didn't enjoy it at all. Felt it ran out of steam with about 30 minutes to go. Wouldn't be in a hurry to watch it again either which was never a problem with original (as cheesy as it is).

First half was decent. Some good set pieces. But it got a bit tiresome towards the end. Edgar Wright's signature style was missing. Glen Powell doesn't convince as an everyman action hero, the type of role Bruce Willis did so brilliantly.
