Hooker David Cherry – who made his Test debut in the national side’s Calcutta Cup win over England at Twickenham – second-row stalwart and co-captain Grant Gilchrist and stand-off Jaco van der Walt will all start the Guinness PRO14 clash following their fallow week release from the international championship.

Pretty strong looking team. Great to see Conway back, think that's his first game in awhile?

    Great to have him back

Played again Harlequins Dec 13th, hasn't featured since

The likes of Coombes, Casey and Daly will be looking to catch the attention of Farrell ahead of the Italy game

Would have started KOB for the above reasons to maybe get a look in at Irish camp. Hope it’s not going to revert back to the NScannell show with our best hookers KOB & Marshall having to share 5 minutes off the bench.

Strong team. Great to see Conway back and hopefully himself and Daly go well. Would have liked to see O'Byrne at 2 - he's been great this season. Maybe he'll get a run against a tiring team and get to show off the silky hands :D

    🤪

Delighted to see Conway back, probably too late for him to make claim for a 6Ns spot but here's hoping.

No experimenting in that lineup by Munster. Connacht aren't mathematically gone yet and I don't think we can count on the season ending in March given the current Covid situation.

Delighted for Conway but disappointed overall. I don't see how Scannell deserves to be starting ahead of O'Byrne and having Archer on the bench, especially considering his last performance, is a wasted opportunity. Likewise, given that we have fly half covered on the bench I think Rory is fortunate enough. I know the lads just signed two year contracts but I find it hard to fathom personally.

Good looking backline. Should make easy work of Edinburgh.

Ah, you've fallen for the classic Munster ruse - we'll likely win in the final few mins with a dropgoal or clutch try!

    🤪

Decent starting XV for Edinburgh, backs on the bench not so much.
    Big fan of Crosbie.

    A 10 point wind I'd say!

    Bump.

    Cloete involved early

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

    Cloete pinged early.

Neck roll on Farrell not pinged.
Stall set out by the ref early.

Edinburgh starting pretty well, to be fair to them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,534 ✭✭✭sioda

How many times have you to be asked to use it by the ref.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,705 ✭✭✭The Inbetween is mine

Use it..use.it...use it...refs need to cut that out.. penalise the delay and that will end it pdq

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 98 ✭✭greenkiwi1

Watched RK play this morning with the Force in Super Rugby AU. Commentator mentioned that there is a new hard 5 sec rule for box kicks etc from the first Use It. Hardly any box kicks....

The wind really held JJ's kick up there

I thought they might play this in mini Murrayfield.

Some good stuff in the last 10 mins.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

    Schoeman offside by a mile.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,705 ✭✭✭The Inbetween is mine

That was the second try we scored there I'd say

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,534 ✭✭✭sioda

Set pieces looking excellent tonight tbf

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,705 ✭✭✭The Inbetween is mine

    O'Donoghue touched the line there?

    I thought so

Keep up the workrate here and we could really hurt them tonight

Surprised no yellow for Edinburgh at this stage

Munster are getting a good return on counter rucks too many Edinburgh lads just setting for the sake of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

    Crucial tap by Coombes.

Some very good stuff in that first half, particularly in the final 20 mins, the bouncing re-start form Edinburgh aside. JOD going well and it felt like he should have 2 tries for himself, would like to see a replay of that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,253 ✭✭✭Boscoirl

The ref was giving the try but Jack placed it back to recycle it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,366 ✭✭✭yerrahbah

Good half after a very ill disciplined first 10 minutes.

    Set piece looks solid.

Don't have any volume on have they said why Edinburgh aren't using their new ground?

Messy start to the second half, Munster putting themselves under pressure

I’m guessing it was only officially finished midweek.
Might not have wanted to setup TV coverage there on short notice.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Poor from Haley he messed that up. Had more time than thought.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,253 ✭✭✭Boscoirl

Edinburgh offside all night. Ref tells 1 to go back onside. Doesn’t bother. Play on. Worse than the “ use it” calls.

Only very recently completed building the venue. Theyre going to use it primarily for training in short term and use it for games when crowds are back

He scores every week does Coombes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

12 phases there or what we. All sealed off. Every time.

Not to mention schoeman taking it to ground twice on his carries.

They really need to bring the 5 second rule for use it that's being brought in for Super Rugby. Outrageous amount of time at the base for some of the forwards there.

Changing 4 players when you are defending scrum on 5m..could be trouble here

    You mean enforce existing laws?
    Never going to happen...
Not watching so cant comment but is it just much worse than normal. Only way you could stick to the 5 second law when ball is available is ref to count aloud to 5 but i wouldnt agree to that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Adamson really is making a mess of this half. This scrum passage is never ending, he hasn’t got a notion of what he’s looking at here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

    Take a scrum Munster!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,876 ✭✭✭irelandrover

The last 20 minutes had been painful watching

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,705 ✭✭✭The Inbetween is mine

    Quick scrum here please

That suited Munster perfectly. Once they managed to clear their lines, that was the end of the game as a contest.
