An England backlash? Or can Italy shock the world Cup finalists?

    Have at it

I'm expecting England to still struggle a bit to get back to form. And Italy to be Italy. Could be a messy affair.

for the more knowledgable here, why did none of the italians take the knee and some english took it and some stood. Was this agreed beforehand
    TIA

Me too, I think Italy will be competitive here for large portions of the game.

As I understand it. Officially they have a minute silence as a stand against racism. Obviously everyone respects and supports this.

Taking the knee is a show of support for black lives matter. Not everyone supports everything black lives matter stands for. It's got a lot of political and activist shenanigan baggage. Players do it or not as a personal thing.

    Brilliant

Great to see a referee watch the offside line. England's defence is very ordinary when they are kept onside

    Great start for Italy.

Lawes on all fours over his own ball.

Harsh penalty. The reason he still had hands on was because England were holding on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 62 ✭✭Ruggabugga101

    Harsh.

Wonder if England 'got the right information' this week....Eddy sprouting **** during the week.

Ford butchered that ...huge overlap out to his right and he went straight into contact

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,455 ✭✭✭Dave_The_Sheep

    Eh, knock on, perhaps?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,264 ✭✭✭testtech05

    Eh, knock on, perhaps?

Was hoping they might show a replay. Looked obvious to me.

Try looked like a double movement too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,429 ✭✭✭theVersatile

Double movement on the last angle?

How could they miss that knock on?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,122 ✭✭✭almostover

    Eh, knock on, perhaps?

Joy Neville asleep at the wheel there, obvious knock on from May

Why weren't the Italians screaming for a knock on review?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 843 ✭✭✭adam240610

Replay, was a clear knock on, a lot of calls seem to be being missed lately

    Massive double movement.

Joy Neville misses quite a few big things in the booth it has to be said.

Ah feck - good few bites of the apple there from Cowan Dickie who's on my team but Hill gets it.

Big knock on missed in the run up there.

Have to feel sorry, refs are constantly saying “if there’s something TMO will catch it” when players are shouting and asking and then you see this. Must be infuriating.

Itoje pinged for pancaking on top there. Brilliant.

Terrible reffing. Held on the ground and walking on his knees.

    Italian 8 is a monster.

    "itoje plays on the edge"

Actually is illegal a lot of the time and it's good to see refs pull him up on it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,421 ✭✭✭jammiedodgers

    A penalty against Itoje :eek::eek::eek:

    A penalty against Itoje :eek::eek::eek:

In fairness he was pinged a good few times last week just never got a well overdue yellow and also got away with lots of other calls 🙂

Italy need to stay calm. Shooting themselves in the foot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,065 ✭✭✭TomsOnTheRoof

Jesus Christ. Lineout was crooked and the hooker took the throw in front of his own man.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,122 ✭✭✭almostover

Slade knocked on there too in that chase

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 294 ✭✭Scratchly

That was surely another knock on by England

    Italian hand knocked it back

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Italian playing Itoje at his own game, holding him into rucks.

I, for one, am all for it. Forza Shenanigans.

Fúck sake, Monye complaining about Italy’s unique tactic of starting their weaker props and subbing them off after 30.

    Forward pass.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,997 ✭✭✭gally74

    Forward

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

That was surely forward. Maybe both passes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,122 ✭✭✭almostover

    Another forward pass missed......

I'm not a fan of Quinlan's commentating but he's dead right. Italy struggle to defend outside 12 yet they insist on kicking long to an English back three who know how to exploit the holes in their defence. France did the same last week.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 294 ✭✭Scratchly

It's hard to feel too sorry for Italy because they're not doing themselves any favors but they're getting royally screwed by the ref.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,525 ✭✭✭kilns

England get a lot of referring decisions here so far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

What is Joy Neville doing ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,445 ✭✭✭Deub

Did they change the rules last night?
Forward pass and knock on are allowed?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,065 ✭✭✭TomsOnTheRoof

Another crooked throw and obstruction. This is atrocious officiating.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

    Lawes on all fours again.

I said it last week as unlikely as Italy are to win these games the referees really don’t give them any help at all. There’s a bit of confirmation bias going on at least I think.
