FTTH - Only router needed?

I'm getting Sky FTTH installed on Tuesday, as of yet they still haven't dispatched the hub and I'm starting to think the KN engineer is going to get here and I'll have no hub from Sky.

My question is, is it just a router or a modem as well? I'm not entirely sure how things work with FTTH.

If it's just a router I have a Fritzbox 4020 here for the fixed wireless we currently have.

If worst case scenario happens, KN install but Sky haven't sent the hub, could I just use the Fritzbox?
