    Up €2 to €17.99 a month.
Poor content not really worth it for that much a month

I think it's still worth it but that's a pretty big series of price increases.

Plenty of content still there I've found, especially once you explore the foreign-language section but that's not for everyone and it's a bit of a balancing act. They may also be commissioning too many new series/films which is a huge factor in these price increases.

I can’t recall the last time Netflix made a good movie. Pease suggest one?
All the series are for teenagers
Documentaries are meh at the minute

Go look at this thread on the Films forum. There's a number of their films in there but, broadly, their films aren't great.

Check the same thread. Plenty of good shows have been made - surely you can't believe they're all for teenagers - but they do seem to have increased their load of teenage-aimed/family dramas recently in the English-language titles.

I ended up cancelling Netflix this month, hadn't watched anything on it for ages and with NowTV, Amazon and Disney+ I had too many subscriptions, the Disney is an annual one so I kept that, Amazon I get free with Prime so I have that and NowTV is only for childrens TV so the easiest 1 to get rid of was Netflix, if I was paying monthly for Disney I might considering culling that as well but at €70 per annum with Stars coming to it it's worth it, especially with 2 smallies in the house.

Biggest thing with the shows is they've a habit of cancelling them really early so at this point I don't really watch anything new on it until I know it's going to finish. Got sick of watching stuff and then to be cancelled after season 1.

Was it not only 7 or ,8 euros a month??

They're referring to the premium plan. Basic was about 8 Euro.

I get way more value from Netflix than I do from Sky Movies.

Some non-teen series, off the top of my head...

    Narcos
    Better Call Saul
    The Thick of It
    The Queen's Gambit
    Fauda
    The Haunting of Bly Manor
    Ozark
    Black Summer
    Vampires (French)

I pay for standard and it’s still pretty cheap for what you get. I’ll stick with that. I don’t get why people don’t move to standard. Yes it’s 2 screens not 4 but if you are often using 3-4 screens you probably shouldn’t end the subscription.

I have Amazon. A trial with Disney which I will end later this year.

That’s enough. Two or three with trials.

It's the 4k Vs hd why I'm on premium. The 4 streams doesn't bother me as much

So does that mean the standard plan will go from €12pm to €14pm?

Might cancel it at the end of the month and wait until there is something I actually wanna watch in the future. Only paid for this month a few days ago.

Downgraded from the €17.99 4K plan to HD.

Their 4K has gotten increasingly less "4K-ish" over the last two years or so, definitely not worth €17.99 any more.

As someone mentioned, killing off shows in mid flight really sours the pot.

I'd say this will see a fair few going on "holidays" to Turkey via this sub. I know i will

If you're technically literate enough to sign up for a boards account, you'll be literate enough to sign up via Turkey

It's a couple of minutes work to save a lot if you do want Netflix, I can't emphasise how much simpler it is than one might think. Talk of VPNs and the likes can be offputting if you haven't used them or don't know what they are, but follow the steps in that thread and you could be saving yourself €10 a month

€4.25 per week... buttons for the amount of content on there and people still complain. Sad really.

Not really complaining just once you've had it for a few years it's hard to see the value in it considering all the competition out there. In my house I've NowTV, Disney, Amazon and Netflix (that's outside of the Saorview and FreeSat), that's a lot of services that I'm not using, Netflix is the 1 that gets used the least so I'm taking a break for a while. As a new user it's a brilliant service however and I would go as far as to say that of all the services I've mentioned it's probably the best, just I've had it so long that there isn't much value there for me.

ok, I don't really care much for that and I have a large fairly recent television. 4K isn't that important to me.

I'm showing my age here but I frequently used to spend 20-40eur on boxsets back in the day so one series a month would be make Netflix worth it and I 100% get through more than one series a month!

Have been on the most expensive family 4k plan via Turkey now for ages, I think it costs less than a tenner.

Also have YouTube premium in a similar fashion for about a euro :D

I got the 4K package for about €5 by doing the Turkish hack.

Jerry Seinfeld doesn’t come cheap. $100

Wow. Imagine how much he would have got if the show was funny!

Ooh, I’m not having that! Just about every comedy that came after was influenced by it. Friends was practically a carbon copy for example, just less funny. George Costanza is probably the best ever character in a sitcom. Co-created by the legend that is Larry David.

It's a pain the price is going up but for me it's worth every penny. We are rampaging through the series on it during covid and still have a huge list of what we want to watch. I pick, my girlfriend picks then, we never refuse a suggestion or quit half way through (although Dark was pure torture) and found some truly hidden gems.

    Seinfeld is on Amazon Prime.

The $100m was for stand up specials and his comedians in cars getting coffee series.

Is Netflix charged a month in advance? The past few months I've been paying €15.73 but yesterday was charged €17.70. I thought the new rates don't come in until March?

It’s supposed to be next month. Money came out of my account for this month at the amount I’m on now and I got an email from Netflix saying that it’ll be 12.99 from next month. I’m still keeping it but I’m sure I’m not the only one who has a limit and if it’s stays at this then fine.

Oh it seems it was $500m for “Seinfeld”.

That would be a separate deal to his stand up one.

Seinfeld is making billions between TV syndication and being sold to streaming sites it's deal with Hulu is ending and that was worth $130m for US rights, Amazon had the rest of the world rights for about $300m

Netflix are buying the exclusive global rights for $500m on a 5 year deal.

Just compare what two other shows are getting for streaming rights.

The Office on Peacock cost $500m for just US rights

Friends on HBO Max cost $450m for just US rights.
