True.Had a look online and most reviews are saying it's unlocked but unless someone has bought one here off 3 we'll never know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,495 ✭✭✭bidiots

I can confirm its unlocked, both sims. Well the one i just bought is anyway. Also comes with a tempered screen protector preinstalled and a clear silicon cover.
For 90, not too shabby and should keep most happy.

I don't think that's a tempered glass protector on it, it has a 90hz screen which is impossible to get at that price and makes for a lot snappier phone to use.

Pretty sure it's a screen protector of sorts anyway, https://support.oppo.com/au/answer/?aid=neu106

It's a scratch protector it doesn't provide any impact protection, it'll probably last a few months before you'll want to change it.

Its almost identical to the screen protector I used on my Pixel 5 so we'll have to agree to disagree. Anyway, better than nothing and is free.

I don't know how long you have it or what phone your coming from but what's your general consensus on it re battery, camera etc, thanks.

Just have it a few hours so can't give a huge review.
But, screen is excellent, not as heavy as the Note 8 Pro I had, feels better to hold, button placement is much better here, even better placed than the Pixel 5. Fingerprint placement is actually better too, not as much an indent to 'find' but the free case actually has a groove that guides your finger to where it needs to be.
ColorOs seems much more 'android-y' than Miui too which is a bonus. No bloatware.
Camera is fine, as with all the Xiaomi/OnePlus etc phones to be honest. It's more than enough for what i need.
Screen is excellent, phone feels very snappy, quick animations, nuts for the money.
Face Unlock is quick and something i missed from the Pixel 5 tbh

Opening impressions, its a no brainer for 90 quid(I bought in-store and managed to bypass having to buy credit)

Presuming nothing drastic materialises, i'd put this down as the phone deal of the year so far!

I'll finally get to retire my Jiayu G2 as my backup phone(brilliant little thing), this will be my default phone from now on.

Both, you need to port a number from a different network to get it for €90

Pretty sure you can, yes. Delivery only I think as collect not an option due to covid.... Yet you can buy it in the shop.

Any suggestions on where to get a free SIM to port in for the offer?

    Will a 48sim work?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 68 ✭✭DodoDojo

I was wondering the same thing. I got a 48 free sim to try get the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 deal on Vodafone for 100. When I went to pay it kept saying an error occurred and item was removed from basket. I wonder if it is something to do with the fact I never topped up before on 48 so it somehow picks up on that and won't let you avail of the deal to switch to Vodafone?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,381 ✭✭✭Roberto_gas

Tells me to buy credit ? Do i need to do it for online purchase ?

EDIT - Never mind used to vodafone :) ! Managed to figure it out....its confirmed unlocked ?

Once the 48 sim is activated it should work. No need to buy a membership or topup.

Just compared this to sammy A21S...shows how good a deal A21S was for 40 bucks !

That was the original 'best' deal;) Three are easier to purchase from, so far anwyay. Also, I have a deep hatred from Samsungs bloatware and that exynos chip! But still, 40 quid was a steal.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I can't see how much memory it has. Is it 4gb or 3Gb memory ?

Still saying 139 in my basket, doesn't seem to be deducting the 50 for porting to 3, anyone else had this?

Once you enter the PIN CODE from SMS it would reduce it.

Porting your number is just to give you the €50 discount.

But if I dont want to move to 3.... I only want it as a back-up phone OR give as a present etc.

Get a sim you don't plan on using, use that sim to port, throw both that sim and the sim you receive with the phone away after you've received the phone.

Lyca sims require you to go to a store for this offer.
Ordered a 48sim, so hopefully comes in time before this expires. Thanks OP

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,165 ✭✭✭Mervyn Skidmore

Thanks got 1 but have to wait for another sim to get another. Do you have to pick a sim plan and does it really matter contractually or anything? Was planning on chucking the ported sim and new 3 sim in the bin. Want the phones only.

Hi, I'm trying to purchase this phone online, I have a spare eir sim to use to get this offer but when I try and purchase online it's telling me I need to top up, is there any way to bypass this?

It should give you the option to activate plan after you add it to the cart. Choose active later. Then it won't add €20 to the basket.

48 SIM not giving a discount after entering the pin. I'm trying to get around it but looks like a non-runner for Three.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 76 ✭✭benmeade

Also bought one yesterday thanks op.

Went to Chinese phone repair shop and picked up a free lyca sim. Put it in my phone and lyca sent me a new number instantly by sms. Went straight to the 3 store and ported the lyca number and even bought the 15€ topup as its a cracking deal.
Put my young lads 48 sim into it and job done, no simlock.

I can confirm the phone is unlocked and the phone support NFC for sure, thanks OP.
