    Hey Lads,
Bit of a strange one, I got a new laptop two weeks afo for woek and am using it 8-10 hrs a day. Since then I've been gerring shocled off most metals, door handles etc.

Does anyone here build up static from using their laptops, I saw somewhere I need to take outy the battery and hold the start button to release the static charge?

    Anyone any ideas?

nah - that has to be a joke. batteries are like 20v or so - static is thousands of volts - totally different.

Most likely socks on a soft carpet - try a different pair of shoes see if it helps?

You can get grounding straps and mat - you could use as a mousemat- if its really bothering you - but thats probably overkill.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think you're taking electricity from the laptop. You may be rubbing off the different casing to create static.

It can happen more in winter. Sometimes moisturizer on you hands or a bowl of water on the radiator will reduce the incidences. A cold dry room makes it happen more.

put your finger on a metal water tap to get rid of static electricity,
you should not be able to pick up Any static from a laptop.
you may get static from a carpet maybe.

if you are working from home, you may be using the laptop for hours at a time.
but its nothing to do with the laptop.
i never got any shocks from anything, and i use laptops and pcs every week.
