Extremely windy in East Meath, Bettystown. Wind howling all night. Worse wind speeds over here than from last few named storms!

Exact same here in North County Dublin and not a weather warning in sight apart from Marine weather warning!

Just below warning categories for both wind and rain for Dublin but doesn't mean it's not a god awful day!

East wind gusting to about 80km/h on the seafront and horizontal rain, not a morning to be outside, that's for sure!

    20mm in Arklow now
    Temp 4.6 falling
Wind east to NE gusting to 60
Interesting on top of lug I would imagine

10am at Dublin airport 40 knts gusts and 74km/h.

Is that not an orange warning for wind based on km/h never mind a yellow warning or an I misunderstanding the data?

That's a gale force 8 gust and mean winds are force 7, near gale. Would be far from an orange warning. Those sorts of winds are standard Atlantic weather system fayre. The fast that it's an easterly may give an appearance that the wind are stronger than they are.

We are now at Gale Force 9 as per Beaufort scale inland at Casement with knots of 45 and wind 83km/ h and still Met Eireann only have yellow weather warning for Marine areas.

Why would there be a warning for a gust of 45 knots?

Weather Criteria for Yellow – Weather Alerts :
    WindMean Speeds between 50 and 65 km/h
    Gusts between 90 and 110 km/h

But the wind speed is 83km/h at Casement?

Come on now 83 is very near 90 and while 44 now I've no doubt we will reach 50 at some stage.

We have had orange and red warnings in past for whole of Ireland and while they were needed especially for West, Dublin didn't even make grade for yellow warning when stats were analysised afterwards in some cases.
