I was wondering if anyone has any recommendation for a gps performance tracker (the vest type things worn by a lot of football players to track distance covered during match etc.). It is a present request from
Someone I know but when I google it all I can seem to find are very expensive ones in excess of €200. Are there any cheaper versions for around 100-150? If anyone has any recommendations I would really appreciate it. The person wants to be able to wear it without having to wear a fitness watch (garmin/fitbit).
    Thanks

    Hi Sarah.

I have used Garmin for cycling for many years and find them excellent.
Friends and others have toyed with Fitbit and Apple but really I do not believe there's any comparison.
Suunto are good also and a decent comparison to Garmin.
If you are on a tight budget you will get a good cheap second hand on eBay or DoneDeal pretty quickly.
I see a GPS watch an investment in your health so if you can stretch your budget I think a higher end Garmin will be worth it.
Garmin Forerunner 4 New is a good option at an affordable price.

As the OP mentioned a football related type, an alternative to a watch might be the preference. Anyone got any options in that?

Those are all watches. Did you read the OP?

I haven't seen anything anywhere near the 150 or less to be honest. Everything has been 190+

The price is so extortionate due to these usually being bought in groups of 20+. They generally are sold to teams rather than individuals (For the company in with, we don’t sell them individually- the vests).

The trackers that STATSports do, again, I doubt they do them for individuals anymore.. and if they do, not cheap as when buying the tech you’re needing a lot more too.

You can get the STATsports one for €235 now (normally 280) that gets the best, the tracker unit and the app.

That’s likely basic enough but probably suitable for a user like the OP

Thanks everyone. I ended up buying the Statsports one which was on sale for €235 and after finding a 25% discount code online I got it for €170 so I am happy. Hopefully it does the job.
