Though it’s not as exciting as I felt it would be earlier this year. The majority of 2020 I feel like all I’ve been seeing & hearing is “can’t wait for 2020 to be over” but all signs point to 2021 being more or less the same, albeit some folks will be vaccinated!

Also pretty disappointing can’t make any usual plans for the year, since I don’t even know what we’ll be “allowed” do and what will even be open etc!

A lot of uncertainty ahead of us again, I just hope this time next year we can have a different outlook on the subject though!

Some folks aren't going to be vaccinated everyone will be. Don't worry about anyone who says they won't get the vaccine, restaurants, airline companies, hotels, pubs will ask only vaccinated people to be allowed on their premise/use their service. That will sort out a lot of indecision for people.

2021 is going to be completely different. The first 2-3 months may stay the same as 2020, but certainly, once the vaccine is a thing there will be a big drive to get society up and going again.

2021 isn't going to be much better..... Starting off the year in another lockdown.... Ugh

We live in hope but a shutdown of non essential retail etc would be a downer allright. However three months of vaccination which will hopefully protect the vulnerable, ease the situation in care homes will bring some optimism.
Certainly I can see airlines insisting on proof of vaccination before taking bookings.

Things wont go back to normal until Autumn at the earliest...dont mind your 2-3 month talk...

Most of 2021 will be similar to 2020...

The thing is, we're going to learn nothing from this, and will go back to exactly how we were previously. The rampant consumer capitalist machine will be in full flow as soon as covid is gone and who knows what the next hurtle thrown our way will be.

And if you're an airline flyer, forget about taking your emotional pet onboard in the cabin or in cargo: Alaskan Airlines are at the forefront discontinuing this practice. A definite downer

Forget about capitalism, it is the health system I am concerned about. If a pandemic doesn't galvanise the powers that be into some major action to reform it and reform it well, then nothing will.I expect we will emerge from this patting ourselves on the back that we got through it and telling ourselves aren't we great....and not.one.thing. will change.

Also I am basically at the very end of the vaccine queue so I don't expect to see one til maybe November if I am lucky, although most likely 2022 or maybe even never, if numbers drop and stay down. They may decide to not bother to give it out to a chunk of the population, who knows.Much as I despise saying it, I expect 2021 will not be much different, as I do not see any sign from those making the decisions that they are willing to think outside any box.

I'm not frustrated by all of this at all.......

I'll wager anyone that this covid bullsh1t will be here for at least another 6 months and it wouldnt surprise me if we are seating here on this day next year and we still under restriction.

It appears to me that they are preparing us for another strain of covid or another pandemic entirely.

2021 will be equally as shyte.

It's going to get to the stage where we will need government permission to wipe our own arse.

I won't get the vaccine. I'd live with not travelling or eating out.
Someone has to say no to this rushed pushed on us vaccine.

Aa for 2021, I expect more of the same that was dished up in 2020.

I have a sinking feeling the vaccine rollout is going to be stuffed-up. Already the 'back to normal' kite flying has been pushed out from mid-way through the year until autumn. If we're still screwing around waiting for vaccines while the rest of Europe, North America and Asia is back in business a lot of people are going to be severely p*ssed off.

There's a number of different vaccines. Do you have a specific problem with one or more of them, or are you just saying "no" based on some non-specific, general feeling?

Is there a specific amount of vaccine development time or testing that you would be happy with, or do you just have a general feeling that these ones have been rushed?

Will you still have this attitude in 6 or 12 months time if millions of people globally have been successfully vaccinated with no major ill effects?

The vaccine has had as much research and time put in as every other vaccine, the difference here is there were plenty of volunteers for trials and money for development, usually it takes so long because of a shortage of both of those.

For most people things aren't going to change much for at least the first half of 2021. The difference will be that there's now reasons for optimism, and that'll help keep things bearable.

This time next year we'll be doing okay. Anything before that is a bonus, we just have to hang in there.

If you can't use a normal shop/service without disclosing a part of your medical history - presumably with some kind of digital ID with your name? - that's hardly an improvement on 2020.

    2020 - under house arrest

2021 onwards - tracked/monitored everywhere, needing government permission to take a poo

You'll get it in the end. I'd nearly take a bet on it.

It wasn't rushed - unlike every other illness in the entire history of the world, Covid 19 has been the central point of all medical testing around the planet at the same time. It's amazing what can be done when the wealth of the west is riding on a cure.

I have plans for later in the year, August/September, plans to visit friends who live elsewhere in Europe. Had to postpone as it was planned for this year.
Hope to be vaccinated and life back to something resembling something normal by then.

If you enter a pub / club if you look young, you can be asked for ID...same with flying...photo ID, passport, driving license.

I’d have no issue using one... makes sense...I’m guaranteeing to the staff and fellow customers I’m covid free, I know they all are too, no drama.

Brexit isn't "done" unfortunately, it only begins on 1st of January 2021. All of the things people have been worrying / warning about for the last four years, 2021 is the year when they actually happen. Time will tell if it goes as badly as many have predicted, or if the deal mitigates a lot of it, but it's definitely not done as it hasn't actually started yet.

Scientists don't know yet if any of the vaccines definitely stop you getting Covid. It may be that they just reduce the probability of getting it, and/ or the severity.

In short, the vaccine doesn't guarantee anything.

And, yes its is illlegal to deny services because someone is allergic to vaccination materials.

Would people say that was the worst year on a global scale since June 1944 - August 1945, with the D-Day Landings, last phase of the Holocaust, the heroic Warsaw Uprising but it's brutal crushing, Battle of Berlin, firebobing of Tokyo & the only 2 times a nuclear weapon was used in war? I know that's 2 months and a year, but it certainly looks like Covid will be around a while.

And the worst year in Ireland since October 1993 - October 1994, with the 1993 Shankill Road bombing, the Greysteel Massacre, the Castlerock killings, the June 1994 Shankill Road killings, Loughinisland Massacre & two attempts by the UVF two bomb Dublin again failing both times but still shot someone during the first & injured two young girls in the second & finally ending with the CLMC ceasfire in October 1994.

Can you genuinely see a scenario where a restaurant will ask to see a covid vaccination type passport before serving you? I can't! Would it even be allowed?

Would you like your premise to be a place of a potential outbreak of covid? Places are already checking your temperature before you sit and some others aren't.

I would imagine they are able to ask for some form of vaccine identification. Why not? They can just fall back on health & safety as their legitimate reason. And I'd be in agreement.

Why would I sit beside someone who may be carrying covid, while the majority of us understood the necessity to get vaccinated? And will these non-vaccinated people adhere to 2M when in these premises?

It's a potential headache for many places. Restaurants, hotels will be a mixed bag. But I can't see travel happening without proof of vaccine.
