Moving files between servers

I have what may be a stupid question...

I have two NAS servers (historical reasons).

They are both on the wired network.

If I am using Windows Explorer on my laptop (wifi) to transfer files from one server to the other, are the files transferred directly by wire or do they have to travel by wifi via my wifi laptop?

The latter. And wifi is half duplex so your laptop is not receiving and sending at once, its rapidly switching between the two.

If you can get SSH access to one of the boxes you can copy directly. Should be MUCH faster.
