Personal Trainer Online

    Hi all,

I hope I am posting this in the correct section but just looking for some advice on personal trainers.

Both myself and my partner would really like to get set up with a trainer soon that would:
-Create workouts that can be done at home for us (especially strength training)
-Meal plans based on the foods we eat (we know this will have to be altered somewhat)

Our main aims would be fat loss and toning.

Maybe people have experience of doing this online that might be able to point us in the direction of where to look?
We both run quite a lot (marathons when they were happening but now that has reduced to shorter distances of 18-20k) but one of our main reasons for going with a trainer is for accountability and to get the proper guidance on food and other types of workouts.

    Thanks for any help :)

Input your details there and it will give you your maintenance. Subtract 500 calories or 20 percent to enter into a deficit. Eat 1g protein per pound of body weight (.7 is probably sufficient but no harm anyway). Eat .4g of fat per pound of body weight and make the rest up with carbs. This is a rough guideline.

Eat quality carbs like Oats, Sweet Potato, Brown Rice, Wholewheat pasta.

    Eat plenty of green vegetables.

Eat good fats like natural peanut butter, almonds, avocado.

Eat good proteins like chicken breast, salmon and eggs (also high in fat if you have the yolk).

Any meal plan you get from one of these instagram types will follow that template and charge you 200 quid for it.

When you stop losing weight subtract another 100 calories from your daily caloric intake or increase activity level if you dont want to reduce calories. Its literally that simple.

Download Myfitnesspal to track all this.

The type of service you're looking for is definitely available. As gyms have lost a lot of business, more and more trainers are pivoting to the online space.

If you're looking for customised programs to suit your goals and home equipment, nutritional guidance, meal plans and ongoing check-ins for accountability, that could potentially be quite expensive, however, depending on the frequency of contact you're expecting.

If you want an Ireland based option, although really it doesn't matter if you're doing online, you could look at The Edge (Clontarf and Marino). They'll do 6 weeks of online coaching for €400. I know the owners, both legit guys and with a good track record of long-term private clients who proven that their methods work. https://www.theedgeclontarf.com/online-training/

A bit of a curveball suggestion, but ex Mr Olympia Dorian Yates has also recently started offering online coaching. He definitely would be a one stop shop for what you're after. Pricing starts at £160 / €165 per month, although how much 1-1 interaction there would be is somewhat unclear, could be limited enough at that price I would think. https://dyacademy.co.uk/ By the way, although Dorian Yates was a bodybuilder, (perhaps 'the' bodybuilder, at one time) I don't think this precludes him from coaching 'regular' folk. Building muscle, losing fat, you'd struggle to find someone with a more proven track record.

At a lower price point, there are large U.S sites like Hybrid Performance where you basically buy access to a physical training library, with multiple programs, and your 'coaching' is limited to Q&As and participation in a private facebook group. That is $40 per month (or $390 per year). The nutrition coaching is a lot pricier at $120 per month but is 1-1 as far as I know.

If you shop around you'll see that there are a tremendous variety of these types of sites now, offering reduced price grouping coaching or access to cookie-cutter programs / templates. If you are prepared to do a bit more work in terms of figuring things out on your own they can be a good approach.

P.S If you do sign up with Dorian Yates you've got to come back and give us a review, I'm desperate for someone to try it. :pac:
