Right lads, I've heard a whisper for Some Neck in the X Country at 3.00.
He was a half decent horse for Willie Mullins a few years ago. Took in a cross country at Punchestown finishing 3rd at first attempt. 7lb claimer on board too.
Its come to me via my aul lad but the source has a contact in McConnells yard and gave him a 40/1 winner two weeks ago.

    He's a good price alright

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 976 ✭✭✭supremenovice

Fair enough he carries 12lb less than Neverushacon and race is 6f longer.
At 28/1 it'll get my fiver each way to avoid the pain off not backing a solid tip

Really fancy clemencia in the 2m handicap hurdle bad fall the last day but 2 pounds less and a wind op great EW price wasn’t far behind Aramax at the festival would rather the ground a bit softer but 33s is worth a punt

Threw a tenner each way on it got 18/1 on betfair

I thought Fanion D'estruval was an interesting horse last season and I'm backing him tomorrow in a very nice looking race, should come on a lot from his first run.

Haven't gone through the rest of the card really.

Have day off tomorrow and Sur for an interest so, will try an ew double on some neck and dark magic (PCs pick for Dundalk in other thread) and a EW treble with Clemencia just in case!

Paddy Brennan: “I think she will go very close to following up”

Paddy Brennan - a day ago

    Butte Montana
He clearly has a mountain to climb if you judge him solely on his hurdling debut at Aintree last time but we know he is a lot better than that. His bumper form on heavy ground here last season shows you he has an engine, all right. Hopefully, he would have learned a lot from Aintree, and he will be more polished here.

    12.40pm
    Benny’s Bridge
I didn’t ride him but I thought he shaped a bit better than the beaten distance would suggest when sixth behind Tegerek here in October, and the handicapper played ball by dropping him 3lb. That now puts him on a fair mark if he can return to the form of his win here last season, and he has a decent shot at a third course victory. This handicap looks like it will take plenty of winning though, and he does need to show us a bit more here.

    1.15pm
    Agent Valdez
She went into overdrive up the straight at Leicester last week, and ended up running out a wide-margin winner. You can’t get too carried away with the form as only two finished and she has a 7lb penalty here, but she is certainly well handicapped on a strict interpretation of that win, and it isn’t hard to see her going very well again here. The relatively quick turnaround is an obvious concern, but she wouldn’t be running here if we felt she wasn’t fit and well after the Leicester win. I think she will go very close to following up.

    3.35pm
    Goodbye Dancer
He just hasn’t fired in three runs this season and is 2lb out of the handicap, so his chance of repeating his victory in this race last year is certainly not obvious. But if he can return to the form of that win here last season, and more importantly the race he was about to run when coming down at the last on New Year’s Day off a much higher mark than this, then he is certainly handicapped to take a big hand. Clearly, he has to plenty to prove after his recent runs but maybe easier ground will help him, so any rain would be welcome, and he isn’t out of this.

    3.00 Chelt

Hmm. Well, pace wise, Kingswell Theatre will be up there again and will try to make all I assume. Step Back likes to get on with it, just how he takes to this course- he schooled around here last week and it went well apparently, but surrounded by horses is a different matter. Many in here will be hoping this doesn’t go soft as it will compromise their chances.

Some Neck is one to keep an eye on/add to trackers, not necessarily today but you never know… his first go around here having raced over ‘the banks’ at Punchy for the first time LTO, staying on well in ground i’m not sure he’d have enjoyed. Or he wants further than 3m. Maybe he’s one for a race back there one day. He chased home Yorkhill at Galway in August 19, a G2 winner over fences. Maybe new connections could have some fun with him. They’ll learn plenty here including this trip. J McConnell is 5/21, 8p, +5 with his chasers in the last 2 years. Many of these were out of the handicap when racing over this CD 28 days ago, but can now race from the correct weights. Vivas would go well I think if it’s decent enough ground. He enjoyed himself around here LTO, one of those inconvenienced by racing miles out of the handicap. In theory he should get closer to Kingswell T, although if you don’t’ stay, you don’t stay.

    Trainer of Vivas

    15:00, Cheltenham
    Charlie Longsdon
    Vivas
    Dec Odds: 17 (BetFair Exchange)
    Fri 11th Dec 2020
We'll be riding Vivas to get the trip this time. At least he's much better at the weights today and as I predicted beforehand, he loved the unique obstacles. It's just whether the stamina holds out.

Btw...the above is not my work, nicked from elsewhere ???

Six doubles become three singles and three doubles

Four trebles become three doubles and one treble

    Accum becomes a treble
