Another good Saturdays action coming up with the Tingle Creek and the Becher.
I reckon there's a big race win in Jett and I'm gonna back him to win the Becher Chase with a jockey who does well over the fences. Donald McCain says his best horse is Navajo Pass so Ill back him to win the 1255 at Aintree. Finished a lucky 4th in the Triumph but I think that was a hot renewal so I'll keep the faith.

As for Sandown, the Tingle Creek is one to watch and hope that Altior is back to his best to spark up intrigue in the Champion Chase

Just had a good look at Tingle Creek and not convinced by Altior or Politiligue. Rouge Vif looks overpriced at 9/1 - was a decent third in Arkle having lost a shoe, and impressive winner of good handicap chase at Cheltenham on return this season. Only a 6yo so should have improvement. Fascinating race though, if Altior back to anywhere near his best, will walk all over these. But personally think he may be now on a downward spiral and too many questions for an odds on shot. Would love to see him back to his best though.

I like Rogue Vif and have backed him for March, but couldn't back him on that ground, wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't turn up.

A decent third? 20 lengths. And that was with notebook and cashback not showing up.

Cheers for the heads up, was able to cashout the B365 special, they may very well void but not taking any chances!

The 1.08 Navan is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma.

The shortlist isn’t very short 😂, but I’ll side with Shattered Love. The closer the ground gets to unraceable the better.

    Isnt it a handicap

I would be on shattered live if a conditions race, but a handicap seem a challenge these days

Shattered Love actually my main fancy this weekend, although it's her first run over hurdles in quite a while I think she's nicely handicapped, will love the ground and has a really in form claimer on board

Hitman for the 2m novice at Sandown. The other Nicholls horse has been pulled.

If Allmankind jumps as well as he has done then might win easily, but Hitman looks very good and the two horses pulled up or fell last time - when they were well beaten - had pretty good form themselves.

Eldorado's jumping and pace look a bit ropey in comparison.

Wonder why Altior was pulled. Ground is good to soft according to clerk of the course

Looks nice ground there . They were finishing very very tired yesterday though.

Nico would have advised against it I'd say

It's a joke though, there is a big gap to Cheltenham, loads of time to recover if he has a tough race

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,008 ✭✭✭kksaints

Great days racing ahead. Love the races over the grand national fences. Going to chance Walk in the Mill in the Becher and Flying Angel ew in the grand sefton. I also like Eldorado Allen in the novice chase and Shanroe Santos in the London National. Pity Altior is a non runner.

Really? Jumped like a buck the last day in Cheltenham and when Gumball upped the pace after the third last he was the only one able to go with it, I think he had Gumball well covered as well and was full of running crossing the line.

He is trained by an idiot though!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,665 ✭✭✭Bonniedog

Nearly came down at last at Newton Abbot - did well to keep him up - and wouldn't have caught Gumball imho. Should be good race. Looks like Hitman might go off favourite and a bit of money for Ga Law.

I'll allow any novice a mistake on their debut, and thought he learned a lot from it, was very cleaver at a few the last day.

Agree it looks a hugely informative race, will have a significant effect on betting for March.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,665 ✭✭✭Bonniedog

If Allmankind is as good as some think he is and he jumps like the last day, then it's going to be pretty straightforward, but as you say, they are novices and this will be first real test for them.

I just like the looks of Hitman and you take into account the fact that Mack the Man who he beat by 30 lengths and the two who fell - Totterdown and Highway one o Two were also decent hurdlers, on top of his last French win he could be really good and yard obviously thinks well of him.

Race of the day maybe. Hope there are no more withdrawals.

Santini race will be interesting, he looked shocking FTO last season and no Nico either today. Hard to fancy Native River for it either, so does leave Frodon? Jesus wept!

Would love to see Might Bite enjoy a round of jumping again the mad yoke, Yorkhill and him winning back to back weekends would be one of the stories of the season the mad bastards.

Greaneteen for the Tingle Creek if I had a dart.

Hoping The Bosses Oscar is just out for a spin and doesn't mess up his Pertemps mark, might bring Shattered Love into play today actually if Gordon is being cute.

    For the handicaps:

    12.20 Nestor Park
    12.55 Glinger Flame
    13.30 Le Breuil
    14.53 Articulum
    15.00 Crosspark
    15.15 Springtown Lake
    15.35 Galice Macalo

Relegate in the 1.08 at Navan looks a massive price if showing a return to form.
    365 paying 12/1 six places.

12.33 Navan, Clondaw Secret. Not liking the horse at all in the races. I've been laying it for the past while. I don't think it will be in the first 3 places. Laying 3 places @ around 2/1

12.40 Sandown, Grand Mogul. The fav is around 2/7 and unbackable to some, but, in this race the horse should be 1/12. I'll back upto 1/5. Nothing to touch it in the race.

12.47 Chepstown, Pistol Park. Again not liking the horse at all. Laying 3 places @ around 2.6'ish

12.55 Aintree, Hunters Call, Again I don't think the horse will be in the first 3 places, laying 3 places @ around 2.38 give or take.

Few nice win bets still to run later in the day.

I think you could make a case for the entire field in this one, impossible to know who is trying and who is looking for a mark - one thing for sure is that Gordon and Willie have one each at the very least that they are plotting for March. I think at first look it may very well be Cracking Smart for Gordon and Sayo for Willie, but god knows.

    Politologue
    Santini
    Kilcruit

    11/1

Him not being fit is a negative though, which is what I'm reading in the star right now .

God if I have to hear bryony bulll****ting again after Gordon wins I'll go mad .

Nicky always adamant he takes a lot to get fit. Only one race he'll be spot on for and that's the Gold Cup. Hopefully he gets a better ride this year but I keep saying that about him around Cheltenham.

If Sean Bowen has lost that race he should be shot!

Edit confirmed he lost, terrible blunder.

If you could build a model horse for a gold cup , he would be it ....with a tiny bit more natural speed!

For the day that's in it. Lady Breffni in the 1:05 in Navan. It will set up a good day for Cavan.

Went with Kimberlite Candy, Modus and Low Sun and Santini in a EW lucky 15 small stakes for the interest.

I personally think the horse just needs a stronger jockey and to be ridden extremely positively. Nico weak as piss unfortunately.

OK, this is as weak a Tingle Creek I've seen in a while. Politologue is no great animal and probably better over 2m4f. Im on Castlegrace Paddy for the upset.

All the fences gone home straight at Aintree, its a flat race now.

Had a feeling I should have swerved that race. That's Santini with a permanent place in me betting bin.

Running a horse that's clearly not fit should be banned. The bookies are laughing all the way here.

How do you suggest they get fit without running?

As good as you expect from Santini that. He'd have preferred the be jumping those misses fences.

Native River was the biggest loser on that score. That and being trained by an idiot!

Omitting fences is a bloody disaster. At least we were spared a Bryony Frost cringe job.
