Setting up kids tablets

The big man in red is bringing the kiddos a Samsung galaxy A8 tablet this year.

What kind of parental control apps should I install for it? I would ideally like to keep the tablet in kids mode if that's a thing and maybe pre install some games/books or something.

Do I just link the tablet my own Google account and monitor it that way? I'm a bit of a technophobe so I'm at a loss where to start.

Google Family is excellent, gives you full control / permissions on app installs, timers, location trackers, schedules and ratings - very easy to manage.

Just setup your childs email account first (online or within the Family Link app) then sign into the new device with it (your phone will be the authenticator).
