reductions seem the lowest that they will go now I would say

    40 to 50% off

free shipping over 50 dollars and dollar is weak

delivery was really quick on my last order just over a week ago - about 4 or 5 days but that was really maybe quicker than normal.

just bought some more as really good value

ignore the prompts to move to the "Irish" site. the deals are on the US site.

Jeans and Hoodies in particular are good quality imo. some like the cargo shorts too.

I like their stuff but have got caught twice for customs. AE use FedEx and FedEx will charge the duty regardless of whether it's"caught" or not

ordered stuff just over a week ago and was delivered a couple of days ago with zero extra charges collected

    was delivered by courier

they were advertising before (earlier this year) that they pay customs charges but can't see that on the site now - must have a closer look.

Have you paid customs tax? I like their stuff but not much of a bargain if we have to pay duty..... But then glasso says we don't....... Confusing!

I think that that poster is talking about orders years ago (or before this year at least)

them paying duties is only a recent thing (has been in for this year anyways)

as said, I've received orders this year, including this week with no duties or indeed any extra charges whatsoever.

it's also written in their shipping terms and conditions with the exclusions listed (Ireland obviously not listed there in the exclusions)

Thanks glasso. How long does delivery take usually? Would I have stuff by Christmas?

I can't say exactly how long shipping will take

all I can say is that I ordered Nov 21 and received 26 on my last order (3 items) - that was amazingly quick

Black Friday weekend may slow stuff down for you but I would be fairly confident of getting it before Christmas.

Thanks for the alert OP, ordered some polo's and shirts there. Can't beat a polo shirt for $17/€15.

Bought a load of stuff from AE back in 2007, got stung with customs that time but I am still wearing some it 13 years later haha!! Hopefully no problems this time.

Said it would arrive by December 8th

i ordered from here earlier in the year. it sometimes pops up and says they pay the customs. I got the stuff no problem. AE is a good brand a bit like Abercrombie all v good material and hard wearing. 8 womens undies for 30$ or a decent quality quality T for 12$ cant beat it

no it was the US site, better options and better prices, I tried using my address pal address, then shipped to ireland. I tried using revolut and then tried using PayPal.

Each times the orders were cancelled after an hour. Its not a stock issue either...just wondering has anyone had the same issue with the US site and how did they get around it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,499 ✭✭✭skinny90

    Yep.

how did you work around it? surely there shouldnt be an issue buying off the US site

I didn't work around it. I bought once and got the big import duty fee from them and paid it. Then never bought again. Not a bargain once you include it.

Is it that if you buy off the below site there are no customs but using the US site there is?

I ordered a pair of slim jeans, polo, t-shirt and a hoodie. I don't know how they could be described as horrendous looking unless you simply hate jeans and hoodies - they are plain as plain can be. Presumably you had a 2 minute look at the website and only saw some of the younger styles like the ripped jeans (which wouldn't be my cup of tea either).

American Eagle currently sort out the customs as they state on their shipping and handling conditions

Not sure why people who got "caught" (i.e. when American Eagle were not sorting customs so perfectly normal to have to pay it - not "caught") are posting about a prior situation - are they still sore about it?

as for people going on about the clothes if you actually look there is plenty of stuff with only discrete / pretty much invisible branding or none at all.

if you've never actually tried the quality of their clothing you don't really have a bog do you?

re payment if you haven't done so already I'd try paying by paypal

paying with a European credit or debit card directly may flag up fraud issues and be cancelled automatically.

    no,

there is no customs from the US site and free shipping over $50

see shipping conditions from US site in above post

the eu site has very few items and is a lot more expensive.

I've had it as my card in paypal for ages - prepaid mastercard

    works fine

could try it as a bank account I suppose - no harm

    Thanks OP, great bargain.
Put through and order last night using Revolut and my card has been debited so fingers crossed it doesn't get cancelled. Anyone else get this far using Revolut or is there a chance it could still get cancelled?

I was getting the errors others have mentioned re my address, eventually took the space out of the Eircode and it worked but could have been a coincidence...

I had the exact same issues as you, paid with Revolut and kept getting an error message when trying to complete the order - but, yep it was the space in the Eircode, so again like yourself once I removed it order when through with no issues.

I ordered on the 30th of November and got a mail this morning confirming that my order shipped today (with tracking)

    Ordered Nov 29th.

Out for delivery today, a day earlier than projected.

Not bad coming from the US in fairness and ordered / processed at the busiest time of the year.

Any customs charges for those who already received? It says it’s paid on US end but just wanted to be sure.

None for me anyway ordered 30th November I think and arrived yesterday.

Looked like they just came in a regular van so not sure who delivers them.

Either way very efficient and I would definitely order again.

Got my stuff today - jeans seem great, really comfortable and a good fit.

The tops are all pretty big though. I'm usually a medium, sometimes large, so I ordered medium but for this stuff I'd order a small if ordering again.

EDIT - 36 euro to send stuff back. Was always a risk :) Anyone want to buy some medium sized American Eagle gear ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 91 ✭✭bonsai_73

Anyone else still waiting? My order was due for delivery today and last update on tracking says "Package available for clearance" at 7am yesterday. No movement on it since. Which courier is delivering, does anyone know?

Edit: nevermind, they just arrived a few mins ago, it appears they just haven't updated the tracking yet!

hoodies are fine for me medium - altho they can vary a bit even across their mediums

haven't bought any shirts or the like where good fit matters more

jeans and hoodies is all I would get there

Ah I cross referenced their size guide with a brand of clothes that fits me well and the American eagle small would be the same as their medium. Should have done that beforehand. Jeans and long sleeve thermal T-shirt are great, hoodie and polo shirt will make a nice Christmas present for someone.

Anyway, good bargains - thanks for that.

Stupid question I am on US site...so can only select US address...so I don't have zip code or state...do you switch to ireland?
I click on that and it switches to EU site

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9 sp9612

Hi folks. Digging up an old thread apologies.

I have ordered off American eagle 3 times in the last 5 years or so. Most recently July 2022.

It was always possible to Order off the US version of the AE website and pick delivery to Ireland. There was also never any custom duties to be paid on delivery any of the times I used them.

I have been trying to place an order on the american eagle US site again in the last few days. But it does not let me change the delivery country to Ireland. It tells me I need to visit the EU American eagle site. The problem is the europe AE site does not have the same products I want, nor does it have anything like the value of the US AE site.

I had the idea today to order off the US site and use anPost AddressPal to get it delivered to me in Ireland. I am having doubts though that I will have to pay import duties when An Post deliver my order?

On Friday AE live chat agent told me that as mentioned above the only countries that are liable for import duties upon delivery are South Korea, Israel, Greenland, Russia

Any one shed any insight? Has anyone ordered of the US american eagle site using address pal? Did they have to pay import duties?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,102 ✭✭✭Genghis

I would say definitely expect to pay import duties on anything imported from the US (in fact anything from outside the EU) for which you don't have import duties pre-paid.

An post are fairly watertight at collecting import duties nowadays, very little, i anything passes them by - and that is before you consider AddressPal is their forwarding service for US shipments.

I would think the advice the AE agent gave you relates to 'countries the US website can ship to AND who have import duties' as opposed to 'countries of the world that have import duties'.

Sorry, probably not what you had hoped to hear.
