Revolut have some BF exclusive offers, inc 3 months premium access to the Indo for €3. I’m delighted to get access again, after it was removed from PressReader.

Other offers include one month free access to the Athletic, and some other ones not worth mentioning.

Thanks op wud have missed this. Same boat as you. Liked the paper but too many free options out there to justify paying the full sub..

Cheers OP. Signed up for the 3mo indo deal. I was only charged €2.65 for some reason.

What I've notices is if you look at an article and its behind a paywall, just refresh page and click x to stop loading page and you will be able to read article.

Is it possible to read the indo online like in the printed format?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,351 ✭✭✭webpal

Can you use on multiple devices?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 157 ✭✭emclau

Have to say I’m very pleased with this. I thought it would just give me access to the premium articles on the website, however it also includes ‘print’ editions of Indo and Sunday world to view in a newsreader app..

Yep! You get access to the independent newsstand app to view the print version- login details (4 digit pin) provided on subscription... excellent to read supplements and also gives access to Sunday world...

My reading of it is that it's then 13.99 pm after that. Where does it say you can cancel?

On the link I got it says they send you a reminder email before the cut off for cancelling.

    From the email confirmation

“If you have taken a monthly subscription, you’ve authorised Independent.ie to charge you automatically every month, until you cancel your subscription. You may cancel your subscription at any time by calling customer care on +353 1 705 5333”

They’ll send you an email a day before the 3months are up but probably a good idea to set a reminder if you want to cancel in time.

Says they will remind you the day before your promotion ends but nothing regarding not being tied to a 12 month contract

You can cancel your subscription by ringing a Dublin number

On your revolut app go into rewards/gift section I think it's called. Along the bottom of the app.

Cheers OP. For anyone interested, I had last month free through Revolut. Went to cancel expecting loads of hassle, but sent an email (address is on your account) and they cancelled almost immediately. No probs at all (but set a reminder on your calendar!)

All the newspapers are still there on the library pressreader access if you use HOLA browser and select UK Or USA as your location.
    Use this link
    library.pressdisplay.com/pressdisplay/iphone/homepage.aspx

Use the barcode box when logging in.
    Enter 900000000

New Zealand works too. You need to register on their system (ie. the NZ library) but it works.

    Fyi- I'm from there.

This is genuinely a fantastic deal. For the price of a coffee in Costa, full access to the Indo, including the Sunday paper. About the only decent deal this black Friday

You'd want to be getting paid to read the indo, absolute drivel.

This is why print media struggles to survive. I won't subscribe to anything where I have to call to cancel. Why do they think this model is attractive? It feels like they think by making it awkward to cancel they'll hold onto more readers.

This is the bargain alerts forum. If you don't like a particular bargain, waltz on. There are more suitable forums to discuss the journalistic quality or otherwise of various newspaper publications.

Do you comment on every thread in this forum that you've no interest in..??

There's a link to auto cancel in the reminder email and the sign up email from the last revolut offer. I canceled on the reminder email last time with the one month the day before I was due to renew...but this time round I skipped the Rev offer and just bought the annual subscription on the Indo website. It's 52% off for Black Friday for the year, as mentioned earlier on this thread, it gets you 5 devices, plus access to the ePapers for the year. There's also a 30% off Dominos offer on Revolut which is decent, just for Black Friday.

Caution: had a problem when linking to Independent.ie from my Revolut app so went directly to Independent.ie on the understanding that when I paid using my Revolut card I would only be charged €3 but to my horror I was charged 79.99.
Have emailed their support to either rectify or cancel as no way am I paying the full amount.

So you just went to the website directly and purchased a full price bundle? Yea no, you have to use the Revolut link to get the offer. I get why you're having trouble though - I found the link quite slow to load at first.

The Irish Independent is poor and it shouldn't be promoted. It's basically a tabloid. Wouldn't read it if it was free. Irish Times, Sunday Business Post and the Economist are where it's at if you want quality journalism.

Opening the link from my iPad didn’t let me access the page fully but on the basis that paying with my Revolut card would qualify me for the deal I regrettably proceeded. Hopefully their support will rectify it for me quickly.

Understandable mistake. Did you see the 3% cashback on Apple accessories? Not sure when it ends. Only 3%, but all ads up to justify the Revolut metal monthly fee.

Is this offer expired? Was hoping it would run until end of the month but looks like it's gone.

The three months are almost over. I like the Independent but not willing to pay for the full 13.99 Euro per month. Any cheaper alternatives?

Not an indo fan, but 13.99 for access to Indo and Herald 6 days a week, and the sindo as well seems like a bargain to me. Support journalism and Irish jobs fgs. Do you have a sky sub ? Netflix ? Now Tv? At some point , you will have to stump up for things.

I pay 20 a month for the Irish Times and get the Saturday edition delivered, and access to daily editions via epaper app and it's well worth it.

I sub to that as well and definitely great value, but the freebies have been reduced - no more rakuten points and the cinema thing went away even before first lockdown last year.

€5 per month. I got it on here a few years ago.

A large number of people including myself wouldn’t pick up the Indo or click into it if we were paid €3 per month....

it's worth mentioning this isn't the Irish times, just the uk times with some Irish content, it's good value all the same

Is the 3 month Indo deal still active? Can't seem to find it in rewards.
