Is it easy to cast/mirror ios ipad and android to this?

depends on the App - if you're logged into Netflix on both, it will allow you to cast from your phone, same for Youtube.

Looking to cast/mirror chrome tab and vimeo

you can't cast a chrome tab AFAIK.
If you have Firefox on both devices I think you can send a tab from the phone to the Firestick.
Vimeo I don't use, but I see some bad reviews for their Fire app.

Thanks a million for your help, I might hold out for reductions in chromecast with google tv as I think it'll suit my needs better.

Can cast the likes of YouTube and Facebook video, pictures will mirror an android screen.

Works like a boss, great investment.

How do the Nowtv stick compare though, are they a similar machine?

Would you not be better off paying the small bit extra for the 4k version on amazon. Think it's 30 pound at the min.

They are there alright, always have been. Change your delivery address to UK (you need to as FireStick won’t ship here anyway) and you’ll see it. The best 30 quid you’ll ever spend.

So I just discovered when I tried to buy one. I don't have a UK address though.

Media lounge is another good free app that works well on the firestick.. Channels can be offline occasionally but are very good quality when they are available.
Also has up to date movies.
Link below for guide on how to install.

    Parcel wizard/motel is your friend

Yes, I was using Parcel Wizard (address doesn't matter at viewing stage anyway).

Last night was showing as out of stock and no available date but now showing as in stock on December 1st.

So I managed to get one.

I only need to get an IPTV service set up as I have a smart TV.

Does it offer any other advantages ?

Anybody know any stores that have the Firestick Lite in stock? Argos don't have any at the moment,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 794 ✭✭✭Berberis

Available in Argos Tallaght at moment

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,598 ✭✭✭Saint_Mel

Can you not just install an app directly on the smart tv

I notice the 4k version is down to £32 on Amazon but doesn't deliver to Ireland. I could use AddressPal but then you get stuck for VAT and import charges (this happened to me before).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 58 ✭✭mafitz

not available in Tallaght, have been trying for last week

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,633 ✭✭✭✭murpho999

No the app I use is not available on smart tv so a firestick was required.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 396 ✭✭meathman0

I just reserved one in Tallaght, for collection on Sunday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 372 ✭✭a clanger

If you have an android download apps2fire apk. Then its pretty easy to transfer any app on your phone to the firestick

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 794 ✭✭✭Berberis

There were 5 available last night and now can be ordered there and rathfarham for collection next week.

I had one reserved for collection in tallaght for today, to see if it works and I got a reservation number. Store closed now so I'd say that one will be available to order shortly as it will be in stock

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,903 ✭✭✭ablelocks

    currys have :

    the Lite for €20

    the ultra for €40

    the Max for €45

online ordering for delivery only it looks like, no collection available instore

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,080 ✭✭✭✭Tusky

    €7 delivery - feck sake.

The ultra is €32 on Spanish Amazon but guessing they don't deliver here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 87 ✭✭CuriosityKilledtheCat

Just reserved Firestick Lite in Castlebar for collection next week - €17.99. I didn't check stock elsewhere. Lite is sufficient for what I need it for.

Max is 45 including delivery from Amazon germany …

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27 Jc64

It says the max cannot be delivered to Ireland? Is there a workaround?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,903 ✭✭✭ablelocks

Amazon won't ship it to Ireland - do you use a third party delivery company?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,104 ✭✭✭iPhone.

Just order from Curry’s, pay the delivery charge. Save yourself the grief of jumping through hoops trying to figure out how to get one from Amazon. Cost approx €52 total incl delivery but no additional custom charges etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,211 ✭✭✭✭Suckit

Use mailboxde, and you can add other items or another stick etc. without the shipping increasing by too much.

Ordering on it's own, shipping to mailboxde is free, and from mailboxde is about €10 but I can't confirm.

There is no customs charge within the EU.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,799 ✭✭✭Doodah7

So €55 from Germany with a load of faff and it might take two weeks to get here or €52 from Currys and have it in four days.

    Your logic is seriously flawed.

get it delivered to a click and collect point in newry, pop up and collect.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27 Jc64

Thanks all. I have ordered the max one from Curry's for about €52. Went into a bright mobile phone place on Dame Street on Thursday and your man in there tried to charge me €89 for a 4k one! I actually laughed and walked out, he made the price up when I asked haha. Merry Christmas ya filthy animal 🏃🏃🏃

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,211 ✭✭✭✭Suckit

€46 from Germany and you can have it in three days or three weeks.

Have you ever used Mailboxde? I'm not sure what 'a load of faff' means, but it's as easy as parcelwizard, but with a choice of delivery options.

Not sure what the 'logic is seriously flawed' that you are referring to either, I was literally just replying to the question from the previous poster.

mafitz Did you get sorted, just received my collection text for Tallaght, if you want it.

Have to agree here, a person going to the effort to help someone doesn't go out of their way for their own good. Thanks for the help pal.
