Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Not the best card tbf but sort of looking forward to the main event. Hard to gauge how good Conor Benn is. He was dog**** early on in his career but does seem like he's improved a bit. Big step up all the same but against a non-puncher I'm sure he'll get the decision on the cards if it comes to it regardless.

Can easily see Benn winning by scandalous robbery.

Lads, give us a heads up when Babic on..

    Stuck here watching poxy Strictly!!

Ridings vs Smith fight is over, Babic fight coming up now. I'm not sure this will be much of a step up from Strictly tbh.

Never realised that Tom Little was so big, if you forgive the word play. 6ft 6. He's become a bit of a joke though. And all the pantomime stuff before the fight was silly.

    Ringwalks now

I think that's a bit grande of a description. A man walking in to a barn I would have said.

I can't believe the ring announcer announced him as the "gypo-pottamus" he'll be cancelled on social media before he gets back in to the dressing room.

Babic and little is coming up next and I’m hoping for a proper scrap

Little looks like he has lost a lot of weight without toning up.
Expect Babic to do what he always does.

Sad that Tom Little never has himself in condition to give himself a proper chance. Very funny guy though if you see him on social media.

Little was horrendous tonight he gave it nothing. After the way he clung in against Dubois I expected him to be able to give Bibic a fight. Terrible. Better fight next I think

He's woeful but he's extremely entertaining tbf. Give me Babic v David Price asap.

No shock. Look at Little's record. Always takes a beating in a big fight before Christmas. All presents paid for in the Little household after tonight.

    Won’t go past three rds.

    Three scenarios.

Babic finds the chin to win via KO

Price finds the chin for KO

Price falls down from exhaustion due to the pace Babic brings!

    Some bang that

    Wardley to fight Gorman next?

Would be a good match up, ward key needs a challenge and so does Gorman
Lartey on the floor longer than his ring walk

Jab 30 seconds before the jab hooks combo really stunned Lartey I don’t think he threw another punch

Good start from Benn. I think he’ll win inside the distance.

Benn has an excellent jab. Powerful and fast!

He’s been really impressive so far. Spite in everything he does. Committed, taking the fight to Formella. Very focussed

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,877 ✭✭✭squinn2912

I think the fight is out of Formella porter was very recent and that’s a gruelling fight. He’s been met here at the perfect time for Benn. Benn’s uppercut could cause the ko here he’s not seeing it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,908 ✭✭✭Morrison J

Benn will beat a non-puncher like this easy enough. Can throw all these eye catching shots and not worry at all about what's coming back. Will be a different story when he does eventually fight a puncher I'd think.

Benn will be in serious trouble if he meets someone who can half punch. His defense is terrible..

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,877 ✭✭✭squinn2912

That all remains to be seen. He’s not been ko’d yet. Formella looks like he wants out of there. Several opportunities there and he didn’t go for it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 56,619 ✭✭✭✭walshb

I don’t really care that this lad went 12 with Porter, losing every round; he is desperately weak!

Of course it remains to be seen. And it will be seen when he gets hit clean and hard!

Was thinking that, far too reckless and leaves himself wide open at times ...will be in trouble as he moves up in class of opponent if he does not close that up

    Yep

And I noticed that even when he’s trying to be defensive and difficult to hit, he’s not!!!

    8-0 Benn for me!

Formella has nothing to Worry him so Benn is just pushing forward but that’s not really schooling him for tougher fights

At 24 without much a mature experience that’s not a bad showing. He’s not a hard hitter if he was he’d get the ko tonight and within 6. He needs to be very carefully matched for the next 18 months to improve on his frailties you guys have noted.
But for now that was a good nights work and the rounds will help

Yes. I think they are exaggerating his “explosive power.”

I actually think it was an excellent learning fight for him tbh.
Formella is a lot better than anything than anything he's faced before, but calling him a pillow puncher would overestimate the softness of pillows.

He was hit plenty, and if he was hit as frequent or as clean by someone with power he'd likely been in trouble.
However it was a good showing, his defence has actually improved, as open as he was, and he was lightning quick and showed very good stamina.

Plenty of positive points and he should be in good fights in the years to come.

Again exactly what I thought ... I know Formella has a chin but if Benn had explosive power he would surely have at least put him down

Yep, he doesn't have his Dad's punch, that's for sure.
