Just had a quick look and looks like the only hardware that may be getting discounted for PS5 for Days of Play will be the camera

There will probably be blog post today listing what's on sale

Media remote might be an option. I've seen them discounted elsewhere.

During this State of Play, we will debut the Horizon Forbidden West gameplay reveal! In this 20-minute exclusive segment, you’ll be seeing about 14 minutes of brand new in-game action featuring our heroic protagonist Aloy, all captured directly on PlayStation 5.

I'd be tempted to go on full media blackout but don't think I'll be able to resist watching this.
Hopefully it comes out this year.

Wonder if they’ll have a release date (or rough window like “Coming this Fall”) :)

They will give a release window but no date unless they know it can meet the date. Enough games announce release dates and then end up changing it

Main question is will it still be 2021? GOW2 was also announced for 2021 but that almost definitely will be pushed back to 2022. Will HFW make it for 2021? Definitely more likely given it's probably had a year more in development (HZD was 2017, GOW was 2018) and lots of assets can be reused.

A September release would be class. Later than that and it could get lost in the maelstrom of the Xmas rush and could end up underperforming, so they might make the choice to delay until early 2022 anyway.

Suggestion seems to be Horizon will be out this year, but GoW won’t.

At this stage I'd be surprised if it wasn't out this year, they generally don't do these game-specific State of Plays until relatively shortly before release. Plus they said 2021 when it was announced last year, and there has been no real reason to doubt that since, unlike GOW which has been long rumoured to be delayed.

My guess is they'll show the release date at the end, and around September sounds about right to me.

Nah, Deathloop is out in September.

Anyone find the controller loses power much quicker now since the last update?

Thought that myself but then assumed I was just imagining it. I've been playing a lot of returnal which I imagine is quite heavy on the dualsense battery

Yeah Returnal is a battery drain for sure because the controller is going nuts the entire time. I’m playing that and Subnautica and the latter is much less battery intensive.

Not sure if since update, but def depends on what your playing, playing control or Sackboy lately the controller needs to be charged up alot, but days gone it appears to last weeks :D

I dunno, I've been playing Battlefield 4 and Rise of the Tomb Raider which aren't particularly demanding of the controller but have just noticed how quickly it drains now.
When I played Subnautica or Mass Effect Andromeda it would last ages and that was before I accepted the controller update.

Just came across this on HUKD.

Replacement PS5 panels in black. Much cheaper than D Brand.

I enjoyed the gameplay in the first one and the story was grand but the voice acting just didn't feel right to me.

I played a bit of it again on PC recently and I think I'll wait for the sequel to hit PC as well even though I have a PS5. The bow felt much more accurate using the mouse and it really added to the feel in fights.

More of the same which isnt a bad thing at all, hopefully the option to turn off her nattering is available

Hopefully there's more of the large enemies to fight. It was great spending a few minutes chipping away at their armour before killing them.

A few new things showed off there which should improve things, like the grappling hook and glider - nothing groundbreaking sure, but should make the traversal more open. Also the melee combat looks much improved on the first game. I was hoping to see they'd show Aloy being able to mount one of the flying machines, but maybe they can't do that properly yet. Either way I'm sure they've more to show, so I'm not too worried yet about them showing just "more Horizon".

With it being a first party title I'm sure they'll strongly implement the 3d audio and dual sense features. I'm not a huge fan of how the dual sense is used in every game, but when it's done right then it can really add to the immersion.

It's mad to think Horizon 2 is coming to PS4 too. Wondering if it could be another Cyberpunk, running absolutely horribly on base last gen PS4.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,630 ✭✭✭recyclops

it will either be held back by PS4 on PS5 or run like a turd on PS4 and shine on PS5

I predict the former. Sony is not going to let it run like crap on last gen. That would damage the IP and Sony's brand.

Doubt it tbh, Cyberpunk was far more than just a platform issue. It was just a mess of unimplemented functionality. Ran terribly on the PS5 too.

My guess would be 30FPS 720/900P upscaled to 1080P on the PS4. The world looks more detailed so that's why I think they won't try upscaled 4K on PS4.

I expect 60FPS locked at 1080P on PS5 with some Ray Tracing thrown in or 30FPS with upscaled 4K and some Ray Tracing.

The biggest game so far coming to PS5, showcasing what next gen can do, and no native 4K?

Doubt that. It’ll come, but at the expense of ray tracing
