On the day the Giro has the hardest mountain stage of the season, the Vuelta... doesn't.

    Climbs:

(the profile above shows the second half of the climb only)

...and then the final climb, easily the weakest MTF of the race.

Right over from Italy to Spain for the final 50km of the Vuelta Stage 3. Finishing climb is not very hard, probably won't cause the splits we have seen on Stages 1&2, but we shall see. Obviously another chance for Dan to aim for a Stage win, equally so for Roglic and others!

Most likely one for the break however!

Break only have 1"23s though, so they are not nailed on, will make for an interesting climax.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,763 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

Break's gap coming down quite fast now, less than a minute with 31.3km to go.

Nice to see Dan in the green jersey. This finish should suit him and he is in great form.

All together now for the final climb! Last 1km is >9% so that's where we should see some action!

Froome out the back already! I wonder if he will ever truly recover from his horror crash.

Brilliant! I had a good feeling about today, so I'm glad I went downstairs for the final few km to shout at the TV.

Great last 150 metres there from Dan. To hold off those two boys was bloody impressive.

Epic win, could feel the burn watching it

For once he got his tactics spot on. Basically followed Roglic and let everyone else chase the others. Then went when he had to and hung on for the last corner. Brilliant stuff

Stage win and a podium is on. Terrific for him

Had Dan for today ..glad he is back but knew he would be before the Vuelta

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,245 ✭✭✭check_six

Blimey! I'm only catching up with the cycling today now. Lively day for the Grand Tours. Fair play Dan!

Dan is currently second on GC (Roglic), second on points (Roglic) and second on KOM (Carapaz).

He hasn't been 100% right really since the crash at the tour with Richie Porte at that time. Great to see him back to winning ways.
