Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Quali analysis by teammate is interesting.

4 sets of teammate ended next to each other in quali. The Mercs, Renaults, Alfas and the Haas. All very close to each other within about 1.5tenths.

Some big gaps between teammates were
    Verstappen .550s ahead of Albon,
LeClerc .550s ahead of Vettel (LeClerc went nearly 3tenths faster in q3),
    Perez .500s ahead of Stroll,
Gasley .350s Ahead of Kvyat, and
Russell a whopping .850s ahead of Latifi.

Everyone is expecting history to be written today with Lewis becoming all-time record Grand Prix winner. Which can only mean one thing - first DNF in over 40 races :D
He's 15/2 to not be classified - I'm gonna take a bit of that

The weather forecast suggests rain will come after the race. The wind has picked up quite a bit, maybe will lead to a few first lap lock ups and a bit of action into turn 1

Edit: scratch this, the forecast looks wrong. Spots of rain already

Suggestions of a bit of rain already falling

It only proves that he's better than Bottas though.

That's why any team on the grid would be glad to have Lewis.

What a start, incidents all over, lock ups everywhere,

and the rain is visible enough there early on in the lap.

    Look at Kimi holy crap

Next season won't be any better with Vettel, he's just been out qualified by a Williams.

Yeah, it looks like he's already left the building, to be fair. Can't be an easy position having to go through the whole season with an underpowered car, being consistently outperformed by your younger teammate in the same car and having been unceremoniously dumped for next year before this season had even started - but he hasn't done himself any favours either.

It's a real shame that he finds himself in his current position - whenever he looked like delivering, Ferrari couldn't provide him with a car to do it in. And whenever Ferrari did deliver him a car that could fight for wins and titles in, he couldn't couldn't perform and was guilty of some shocking driving errors.

Hopefully a change of atmosphere and scenery will do him well. That and the lifting of that immense expectation that goes with being a Ferrari driver (that its clear he can't handle anymore).

Looks like they can’t get the tyres up to speed. Mercs on the mediums and Sainz on the sorts.

Terrible start for Verstappen if it is the soft tyres that have pushed McClaren to the fore.

He's on brand new soft tyres, must have done a great job warming them up

Looked like a first lap racing incident between Verstappen and Perez. Gutted for Checo, not much chance of points now

Aye. It's a good example of why it being easy to pass isn't always a positive thing. There's a sense of inevitability which makes it hard to enjoy anything a bit different.

    Albon nowhere

    Think he Is gone

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,648 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Max is flying, meanwhile Albon is P11 and dropping off the back of Stroll. Doing a bang up job of trying to save his seat

Already a 4 second difference between Hamilton and Verstappen, shame he’s having trouble with his tires.

Hopefully Bottas can make this race a real scrap for first.

  • Site Banned Posts: 12,341 ✭✭✭✭Faugheen

    Gasly absolutely flying out there.

He’s been a joy to watch this season. Always racing.

    Hamilton DRS to the front,

Can Bottas stay close and do the same next lap?

Maybe not considering how much crap he might have picked up
