No time frame on when digitisation will be done. A load of ****

Some pomp and ceremony at lizzies funeral today, over 3000 soldiers in the procession, including over 100 pulling the coffin/guncarriage, she must've been an awful weight

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,185 ✭✭✭✭Base price

A lead lined oak coffin isn't light plus the gun carriage isn't braked. It's a lot of pomp and ceremony but they do it well in fairness.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,064 ✭✭✭zetecescort

Lead lined? There's only 8 soldiers shouldering the coffin when they took it off the carriage.

Funny to see the Shinners there and Jim Allister and Arlene Foster sitting at home stewing!!!

Outraged that they went and would have been furious if they snubbed it. Always looking for negative side.

Apparently it's normal for the royals to use lead lined coffins and it would need to be to have a body lying in it for over a week. I heard on the radio that it's around 250kgs.

It maybe the case that it's just an empty oak coffin for ceremonial purposes?

What's the panic, it'll land in it's own good time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,092 ✭✭✭✭wrangler

Whelan always panics, first outa the traps every year wondering where the money is.

Those panicking are probably delaying the payment more by phoning the department office.

I never panic and it always comes

If the anc doesn't arrive on time there's a problem. Better get it sorted sooner rather than later imo

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,311 ✭✭✭Anto_Meath

In fairness you can only be confident that your BPS application was correctly received and process when you get the notification that your ANC money is on its way. If there is any issue usually a delay in the ANC money is the first indication & if there is a problem no matter how small you know it could hold up all following payments until next August. I had an issue with my BEEP payment last year. found out at payment in December, had it sorted within 24 hours as it was a minor administrative issue on the Departments behalf following an inspection. It was mid June when I received my BEEP payment and that was after sending a follow up email at the end of every month from December until May.

The way things are going we'll be farming without the payments shortly or not farming at all as far as I can see.

Why do they wait so long after the death in the UK for the funeral?

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,251 ✭✭✭✭Bass Reeves

They want a good whiff off them to make sure they are definitely dead. They do not want to be burying people that are alive

I think it that every body has a post mortem

An aunt of the missus' died over there earlier this year, I thought it was her months mime when she was getting buried! Went to a cremation for the first time last week, I know it's horses for courses but I just thought it was happy clappy American style rubbish. They'll be getting the mini digger out for me anyway!

Are you well, no hint of a criticism of civil servants?

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,185 ✭✭✭✭Base price

I think (stand corrected) that in England you need to have the death certificate before the person can be buried or cremated. I'm not sure about the rest of the UK.

  • Registered Users Posts: 904 ✭✭✭The Nutty M

I thought it was that they had to book the grave digging and planting as there is such a queue for it.

But when I read Base Price post it makes way more sense.

Credit where it's due, they do a great job getting subsidies out, alot of the problems are caused by the farmers themselves

No young farmers top-up for me this year. Liked the idea of being a young farmer....

None here. I rang last week to confirm all ok as my niece works there and she said my account was not cleared for payment.

so I rang in, no answer, left a message and to be fair they rang back that evening. Explained I want her to make sure they’re was no issues so that I would be paid on time needed money for cash flow etc .

yer man says it’s all ok. Are u sure I said. Yea no bother infact I’ll double check it when I’m off the call and if there are any issues I’ll ring u back.

never heard back and not on amounts due. Sicken u.

I say it every year, anyone who's not getting a payment should get a text to say so. Anc paid at the same time every year.

  • Registered Users Posts: 991 ✭✭✭einn32

I think Daniel O Connell's coffin is lead lined. I did a tour of Glasnevin graveyard years ago and I think the guide mentioned it.

One of my tenants just laughs when I mention the BPS and he'd be similar numbers to yourself but unlike you has to rent a lot of land, built a new 250 cow shed last year too.

He's right, he doesn't need it and there's no point in having a heart attack over it, the money'll come.

Totally different for drystock farmers they need it, it all originated from drystock subsidies anyway, it should go back to them now too

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,237 ✭✭✭✭whelan2

I'm not talking about bps. The payment date for that realistically is December. Anc always paid around 20th September . Anc is marked here for off farm stuff.

Got a parking ticket last week the carpatk was poorly marked out and i was supposedly parked where i shouldnt be (there was a white line either side of my car). However the ticket arrived in the post today and it is addressed to someone with a name very similar to mine (spelling is incorrect) ive heard of people getting away with traffic offences for similar reasons would i have any way of getting out of this for thecsame reasons.

At the ploughing today, ''acquired''....an exhibitors pass and got right to the entrance.

Huge crowd, nice to have the car near to get the lunch, queues everywhere are huge, no comfort in getting food anywhere
