Maybe if you find a used one from a dealer, Tesla are selling more cars than they can produce so I doubt there will be any haggling any time soon.

Buying a new Tesla is more like buying an iPhone. The price is the price.

Nope, no car reg needed to get approved...I believe to get the moola at the end though you need the reg and photo of the cat beside the charger

So if our EDD has just been pushed back is there any prospect of it being brought back close again for Aug-Sept delivery?

I ordered in March. Anyone have an opinion on the likelihood that I will get the car this year - current EDD is Nov?

I've paid for the charger and install but it hasn't happened yet. Sounds like I should cancel this/ look for a refund.

I can understand delay and was prepared to wait - but for them to be texting me telling me to be ready in August that the car is coming is pretty bad.

Ordered in Feb. MSM, 19" wheels and white interior. So far this evening EDD still holding at Aug 23 - September 22.

No idea what the logic is anymore. Maybe the extra options are whats saving me for the moment? Very hard to plan selling my current car around this.

    Its the same throughout.

Have a look at the BMW i4 thread. People expecting cars ringing up to be told no sorry, your car is not even on route yet.

    Hyundai the same.

There will be a massive delivery in the last 2 weeks of September, trust me!

I posted my experience a few pages back. I had an August - October EDD, but last Friday (about 2 hours after the text came out) it changed to Nov 2022.

I was gutted, but on Monday evening it changed to August 22nd to September 23rd. It’s holding steady since.

I wouldn’t lose hope yet. By the sounds of it and reading on other forums, fluctuating EDDs approaching delivery months seems common.

    Hope this helps!

It is not unusual for Tesla EDD's to change frequently and trying to understand the specific reasons will only cause brain damage and won't advance matters. Having said that my instinct is that there must have been some reason why EDD's were brought forward (which surprised us all) and many have posted here that discussion with Tesla directly indicated a confidence level that a batch of cars (most likely Model 3's) are destined for delivery to Ireland in August/September. This is also consistent with movements at port of Shanghai where there are thousands of Tesla's awaiting loading to a ship (see attached image for credits).

The first concrete and reliable indicator is the notification of a VIN which when received allows you to relax a little. These are not normally notified by Tesla until about 2 weeks from your delivery date, but are often discoverable in advance (a week or 2) through your account page (source code). VIN's are usually only allocated when a ship loads/is on the high seas . so hopefully another week or so should provide better insights.

In relation to your own order (March) I would be hopeful of you being high on the list for next deliveries...just my view,

Thus was position on July 8th ...for those who have not seen the scale before...it's impressive. A ship from Shanghai to Europe usually has about 4500 cars.

Cars unloaded at Zeebrugge then need to pick up a RORO to transport to Dublin, give it a week all in depending on shipping schedules. SEAI can be and is done by Tesla within a day or two once you sign forms

Does anyone have any experience on trading in with Tesla?

I am hoping to use the funds from the trade-in as part of the down payment on the HP, but not sure how the timing & process would work in this case..don’t they look for the down payment before the trade in is even processed?

Bah, first World problem, I know, but the latest update 2022.16.3 further nerfed FSD in Europe.

Before the update, it would turn off at your junction. Now, it requires you to specifically indicate and manually start the manoeuvre. Sure, what's the point in that? I might as well just turn off the navigation and do it myself.

Didn't know this in advance and almost missed two exits today.

Here's the part from the release notes, I found it later.

    —-------------

Navigate on Autopilot has been updated to require a driver-initiated request before the vehicle will select a motorway exit or interchange. This driver-initiated request can be made by using the turn signal stalk shortly before the lateral manoeuvre is required.

I got a trade in value from them but it was rubbish so I declined it. I expect to get 4k more selling it myself.

For info, Tesla offered me 23k for my trade-in and I got the exact same 23k offer from Seat against the Cupra Born. That is of course a "trade" valuation, there's always the potential do better selling it privately, but also the hassle.

I'm in similar position, although PCP finance. My trade-in IS my deposit plus I have a small settlement figure on my current car. Other than submit my car for trade in valuation with Tesla, I haven't been asked to do anything else.

Ditto, but HP not PCP. Trade in current M3 is deposit.

Just as another data point, I didn't get to fill out the SEAI form until after I had picked up the car. Maybe this was pretty unusual but at least it can give you another reference point.

The girl in Tesla who sent my application form to AIB for me yesterday, I replied back to her saying that we may need to do it again as my EDD pushed out to Feb 2023. She said to hold tight til next week as VINs may be assigned out then and we'll have better view on where things stand

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 246 ✭✭comerla

My trade in from Tesla was decent. Will be going with it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,403 ✭✭✭Fingleberries

I got a reasonable trade-in from Tesla towards my M3 - it was higher than VW had offered six months earlier (and 3-4k KM added to the clock)

There's always the possibility that I could have gotten €1-2k more with a private sale, but as someone else said earlier you've got the hassle to deal with. I chose simplicity.

I would respectfully suggest that nobody panic about the changes made in the EDD two days ago. Better to wait a little until VINS start getting assigned once ships begin to leave Shanghai, starting next week. My instinct is that we will then see more reliable EDD changes with September featuring for Irish deliveries...

All of this is NOT unusual for Tesla.

just got this back from Tesla so as some of the more seasoned Tesla members have already advised, hold for the moment - not is all lost yet…

Thanks Mike! A Tesla rep just emailed me and asked me to complete the SEAI grant form along with some other questions. That would suggest an earlier delivery date and not the Feb 2023 as SEAI grants not confirmed for next year yet.

You seem to be at least 1 step ahead in the process than I am anyway as I have had no email contact from them…

Just had a follow up email, I asked about delivery dates.

"In regards to delivery dates, the dynamic ones in your account are only estimates so they can move around subject to different factors involved.

I would however advise to bear with us until next week as I believe we will be able to confirm by then if a VIN will be assigned to your order for August - September delivery.

Your account is set to eligible to match to a vehicle as soon as one is available which puts you in the best possible position for assignment and you have done everything your end possible to complete the relevant sections on your order.

Thank you so much for your patience and I will catch up with you again next week."

Just the 250€ deposit paid. Approved for PCP finance (based on max. Deposit E.g. trade-in). Assume they will need to provide updated trade-in valuation, but don’t expect it to be much different (less).
