What are your "comfort films"?

The flicks you put on that never fail to bring that feeling of magic.

I guess it varies over time - I used to watch films about nomadism - dudes who just travelled anywhere, anytime, bedded down some hotties along the way, had some fun - took it as it came.

I left that phase behind at about pffff, 23.

    ATM top flicks are,

    - Pain and Gain.

Never gets old, no matter how many times I watch; about pumping iron, living in Miami (which looks amazing on film but is apparently a horrible place to live), the beach, the tan, the chicks etc.

Looks so glamorous - always brings me a sense of comfort.

    - Casino

Sharon Stone, DeNiro - again, looks magical on film, but Las Vegas is apparently a suburban nightmare in the desert.

Nonetheless, the hollywood incarnation never fails to capture my imagination.
Neon lights, fast women, fast living, "Welcome to wonderful Las Vegas".

    - 8 mm

Nicholas Cage - it's about porno really. Actually made in Hollywood, but doesn't look glamourous. Still though, exhibition of genuine human nature (pervs) somehow reliably brings me a sense of well being.

    So,

    Wat u got for me??

Not "magic" per se but if I come across any of these films when flicking through the tv, I wont change channel until they are over.

    The Goonies.
    Die Hard 1 or 3.
    The day after tomorrow.
    Gladiator.
    Saving Private Ryan.
    Twister.
    Platoon.

The film is perfect and looks and sounds perfect and is executed so well and I can watch it closely or just have it on in the background while I read

I watched Casino this year for the first time and was a bit disappointed. I'd heard so many good things. It gets a bit too bogged down in the domestic drama in the last third of the film.
