I think it's pretty good in fairness and also has an Irish accent voice.

That accent voice is as neutral as it gets.

Just as I typed that :D

Why were the original Homepods never available here?

Genuinely think it’s an accent thing that they’re extra cautious about. Siri isn’t available on Apple TV either.

Slippery slope as you end up buying more than one.

I have 4 echoes now, after trying one out a year ago.:pac:

    Yes but excluding US taxes.

    I'm guessing €129 here.

Still pretty decent, thought it would be approaching 200 quid! :p

I've one echo dot that I want to replace. No mention of countries but I'll probably pick one up from the UK store. Pity about the November release date.

Poor Tim looking fairly lonely in that empty room.

    Much prefer these recorded presentations.

Slicker, smoother and no annoying American hollering and whooping.

You wouldn’t want to be playing a “5G” drinking game. They’re really putting all the eggs in that basket this year.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,358 ✭✭✭DubDJ

Anyone else not give two sh!ts about 5G? Wish they'd picked 120Hz over 5G. Just the usual US telecom networks pushing people into new phones. 3G to 4G was no major difference for me, even now I struggle to get 4G in a lot of areas.

Agreed, it's such a high quality setup too. Everything straight to the point.

    5G has gotten real apparently.

The way they keep cutting back to the empty auditorium is weird.

Bigging up the 5G feature first. Minor upgrades apart from that so?(haven’t been following the leeks.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,358 ✭✭✭DubDJ

Yeah looks like they'll be pushing 5G as the big flagship feature. And it's all aimed at the US market as usual.

Looks like it. They will heavily push this ‘new’ square design and the liDar stuff too probably.

That guy should stick to selling pasta

So America then. I mean what about cork or Galway ?

Edit: if you were playing the 5G and Verizon drinking game stay away from the oven.

    I'd much rather have 5g.

120hz is something you've mentioned a few times but I think it's very niche on a phone and not something most people worry about.

5G will make a difference in speeds and how a phone is used as it interacts with more devices.

Not even the pre-recording could stop that from being cringey

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,358 ✭✭✭DubDJ

This has such a stage show feel. Like watching a play :D

    Yeah that is strange alright.

It's kind of interesting how much 5G is being pushed. Reaching up to 200m by year end out of a total US population of 320m.

Obviously they have to start somewhere, but the connectivity is far from ideal.

    3G to 4G was a massive jump!?

If you only use data for browsing the internet and a few apps, then yes it doesn't make much difference.

Agreed, although biggest benefit of 5G for me personally will be saying goodbye (hopefully) to dropped connections at gigs and events. Even now I find I loose 4G in Dublin city center at times. The network is jammed.
