Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    where ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,445 ✭✭✭tc20

there was quite a few high end Ukraine regged cars over there - Panameras, Cayenne Turbos etc but the Lambo was another level.

That car was/ is for sale at Glassen motor co. - around corner from there . Huge premium on 65 AMG over 55 AMG - hard to know if worth it.

What's going on with that Merc AMG massive gap between tyre and wing on a supercar seems strange?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,547 ✭✭✭goochy

some of the best cars in the world , keep them coming

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,436 ✭✭✭Marcinek_55

I think it's front lift. Wasn't that high when he was driving, wasn't that high on other two I saw.

    Here is second lot

I've enough edited photos for one more post. By the way, I was waiting 20 years to see CLK GTR outdoor and I said to myself if I will ever spot it, I'm done with car spotting... so... After that event I went to another event but still didn't edit photos from it.

    Military version of the Hummer.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,485 ✭✭✭KevRossi

    Good spot. Where is that?

I think that's the civilian version of the military spec that was sold for a while? Not the whole Army version but not the same amount of creature comforts as the 'street' version. Could be wrong though.

The whole idea was inspired by Schwarzenegger who ordered one off GM after he saw them in the first Gulf War. A guy from a company that we worked with in Germany had one (this is mid-late 90's). He couldn't drive it in town as he couldn't guess where the corners where. Very noisy and limited to 80 km/h as it was over 3.5t. He was big into US cars, I bought a Chevy G20 off him at one stage. I digress.

think Deane motors had that very sale recently - was only about €40 k ??

pity about the ZV reg - it was built after 1986 so ne excuse for zv reg

    pity about the ZV reg

Some people prefer them. Afaik you can choose which you want on a car that age.

    Industrial area of north Dublin.

It has a diesel engine. One thing that stood out was how wide it is. Makes absolutely no sense but it's still cool

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,309 ✭✭✭✭wotzgoingon

I watched a YouTuber try to drive one of those Hummers through a small lake. He used a large length of wavin pipe as the intake. He had a oxygen mask to breath while he drove it. When I say in water the surface was a couple of feet above the roof. Also lake was muddy so couldn't get traction plus he ran into other issues like water getting into engine as it was old and seals weren't in the best of shape.

I haven't looked at this vid but it seems to match the one described...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,309 ✭✭✭✭wotzgoingon

He has at least 5 or 6 videos of trying to drive under water. The video above is his own pond in his garden. Then this video I linked here is another pond. I called it a lake in the post up above which was wrong and he didn't go as deep in this as I remembered. He still submerged it but it cut out eventually.

Johnny Ronan the property mogul had a new 98D Blue station wagon one time , think it was same one that got repainted black and turned up at Paddy Connolly 4x4 years later .

In Poland recently and came across these. It took me a minute to figure out what the first car was. I loved that model Omega and there were several A2s driving around.

I don't think that tricolor is stock. Just who would do that to their car.

@Marcinek_55 - the cars on your recent posts over the last couple of pages are just incredible. You mentioned the CLK GTR yourself as a holy grail type of car; the others you have pictured are in the same league. Fantastic, really appreciate your posting them here.

+1 many times. For people like myself who avoid FB, insta etc like that plague, it’s great to still see these high quality photos on a forum. Thanks for adding these @Marcinek_55.

I’ve seen a XK220 and an F40 in the flesh/metal. Just the F1 to track down now to have all three. A trip to Goodwood next year may be in order!

yes i am talking about BRG car - blue car is a GT1

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,436 ✭✭✭Marcinek_55

It' Carrera GTZ by Zagato. 1 of 6 made, recently sold for around €1.8m.

Thank You. I saw many cars but that CLK GTR was on my list for over 20 years and never saw it in sun light, this was first time ever. I was saying that the day I will spot it I will finish with car spotting but that won't work. That hobby is stronger than me and gives me a lot of pleasure. I just don't know what car to place on that list next. Think I already saw most of cars I wanted to see like all/or almost all Koenigseggs, Paganis and other modern hypercars.

Thank you. I'm on fb and ig but not much success but as I said above I'm doing it for pleasure not to be 'famous'.

Yes GT1 is a blue car on 4th photo. Im still is shock when think I saw 3 different GT1 this year but 2nd photo is Carrera GTZ by Zagato, chassis 04/06.

Here is some more photos I have edited and posted on my fb but nowhere else yet

Mention of an XJ220 reminded me I had this pic on the phone. I actually have an original sales brochure for the XJ220, hopefully in my parents’ house somewhere and not lost, the old man was given it by the local Jag dealer back in the day. Must try dig it out.

    Great photos as always Marcin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,547 ✭✭✭goochy

love the xj220 , they still relatively cheap - engine similar to a Metro 6R4 ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 245 ✭✭Stephenc66

They were originally to have had a V12 normally aspirated engine. Emission concerns and weight reduction meant the production cars were produced with a twin turbo 3.5iL V6 based on the 6R4 engine.

If I recall one of the major differences was in the Jag the camshafts were gear driven as opposed to a belt in the 6R4 engine

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,547 ✭✭✭goochy

performance was still good , always thought the alloys were very plain . There is a company in UK ( Don Law racing ) that specialises in them . Have seen some with different wheels fitted

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,436 ✭✭✭Marcinek_55

Remember when Jaguar XJ220 was one of my 'I have to spot it' car and then in 2013 I saw one at Terenure Show. I have something like: I see some car I always wanted to see and then I keep see it more often, happen with Jaguar where I saw many of them at this stage (including XJ220S) and hopefully it will happen with CLK GTR 😅

Here is photo of XJ220 from Terenure 2013

Funny to look and see how my photos changed in last 10 years.
